Hi guys sorry for all the questions lately,

 

been looking for subframe bushes, knocked out the metal sleves thinking new ones come with them to find out they don't.

 

Came across a set on driftworks and omit says to knock sleve out.

Anyone know if there stuff is any good has bushes seem cheap to me.

If you have knocked out the metal sleeve around the rim you will need the alloy solid bushes as the poly ones don't fit, I've fitted alloy ones

Nope you do not need the solid alloy bushes.

 

The Driftworks poly bushes will do the job, I fitted them to mine and the instructions are to completely remove the original bush. But to get the subframe to sit the same distance from the body I had to fit 10mm spacers. I got some cut and drilled from a local engineering shop for £10.

 

The supplied centre sleeve to my mind is also too short, I could not get the retaining nuts to lock against them. A couple of plain washers did the job of packing them out.

Sorry to dig this up, ive been thinking about doing mine, get rid of that annoying hop at the top of the gear, why do you need the spacer sorry? if you don't fit it does it drag the back end down 10mm?

Yep the subframe would sit 10mm closer to the body of the car, so in effect the car would be lowered by that amount. On it's own that would not really be an issue but everything else attached to the subframe would be sitting closer to the body, pipework etc. But for me the main point of concern was that the propshaft would then be slightly out of line. Probably not an issue, but i did not want to take any chances seeing as the props on the Z seem to cause vibration issues at the best of times.

hrm didn't think about that, although really the ujs should correct that I spose. did yours come with a little metal washer like 3mm or something? or is that something they have added recently? I wondering wether I could bin that aswel giving a further body drop.

The washers are for the bottom if remember correctly. The other thing that I found with them is that the inner sleeve that they supply with the bushes is too short. When you try to tighten up the bottom nut the bushes were getting compressed too far. The subframe was starting to cut into the bushes, some packing washers cured that though.

Where did you have to fit the packing rings?

That's a good thing with the alloy bushes they don't use a sleeve to fit, there a straight fit in the subby don't need any alterations ect and feel better

lol yep if I had not been worried about a harsher ride and even more road noise I would have gone down the alloy route as well.

Yea you use them on poly bushes but there's no sleeve on the alloy bushes they fit tight to the subby mounting bolt

Yep but it was the poly bushes that we were discussing not the alloy ones
