Hi all,

I started fitting the exhaust today but when i fitted the decats to the down pipes i noticed the drivers side pipe was sitting in a total different position to the other. It sits about 2 inches higher so its impossible to fit the pipe on to the gearbox exhaust bracket.

Has anyone else come across this problem? Im guessing im going to need to find someone with a pipe bender

No its not just you.

The road to building hybrids and highly modded z32s is not an weasy one. There is no manual to consult. So you will encounter problems. In addition not all the aftermarket items out there have been properly tested and developed particularly stuff from China and Taiwan etc that is touted about by a variety of Ebay and Car club forum Traders. And no Aftermarket manufacturer checks compatability with its rivals products.

So ... for example buying headers, decats and a Zorst from three different suppliers is a likley road to some minor compatability problems.

the most famous one us NA owners encounter is the insistance that their chinese made "Stillen rip off" headers fit RHD cars without issues... which is total b#llox

so dont loose heart ... just work round the issues.

Thanks Pete I'm hopefully coming towards the end of the build now and like you say there is no manual to building a modded zed. But id like at least 1 thing to go right first time now and then lol. I'm using Greg Dupree manifolds and decats just would of thought they would of been of better quality.

ive got a full japspeed turbo back system the front pipes and the mid box where a right handfull to pull together. i ently jacked up the cat section with a trolley jack and winched it in with some m10s

take some pics and contact SZ, I'm sure they'll advise. I'll be surprised if there's an issue with the parts

Ive taken some pics and have sent them to Gregs email i think. I hope ill hear from them soon. I cant see what ive done can be wrong but who knows lol

mine is out a bit too .... only happened when i fitted after market tubs and downpipes its only about 1.5" nothing bad as yours

is that the original exhaust flange on the downpipes ?

Mine didn't fit at all when I fitted my japspeed decats so I ground off the tabs on the gearbox hangers and ran without. The two sides of exhaust were level with each other though. I've since remade my own hangers and cut and rewelded flanges where needed and now my exhaust fits great without stress on any of it. Pretty much a completely custom exhaust now though!

I'm thinking of trying to get an exhaust company to bend the pipe a tad. The flanges are what came on the Sz super splits down pipes
