Yep - today discovered that all my glow plugs are black..

Car been standing (except for little movement out of garage) for 7 months..

you talking about a diesel car or your Zed ? .. cuz zeds dont have glow plugs :)

but if its a diesel yes thats normal to have black tips/ends

ok black spark plugs could be down to stop starting it ... unburnt fuel or oil ...

but as your just starting it in the garage and not driving it would say its just down to that ...

Me too. When a car is running from cold, the fuel mixture is much richer; hence more soot is produced in the combustion chambers. This burns off when the engine is up to full temperature and running properly - but if you are only starting it in the garage, it is on idle all the time and the soot won't get burned away.
