Fot those who dont know....

Drag results are quarter mile standing start.

Flyers is a 1KM standing start with speed at the flying kilometer measured.

Circuit is a giant slalom course round a LOT of very tight cones ... timed of course.

There are also FWD classes and 4WD classes.

The best and fastest in the country.

I will be there with Bob tomorrow

Best of luck for tommorow. Watched your runs today, not too bad, but ic you can get a better faster start you would easy knock. 1-1.5sec of your time.

only thing I've seen on Matt's car is that a brake line ruptured on the M6 on the Saturday, didn't see any update after that so don't know if he made it

Had a nightmare Steve, copy and paste from another site...

I arrived on Wednesday having collected the VP Import from Santa Pod. Dave was already doing some basic checks and system configuration in preparation for the mapping and we still had a few other issues to resolve. The day started ok but it became apparent later in the day that the car wasn't making the power it should have been, all logs were apparently clean and nothing highlighted as an issue but the car would only make around 575bhp at 1 bar on road fuel and was boosting very late.

On further inspection it was put down to a disconnected injector on cylinder 1 which when connected made a 'slight' difference. A bit more mapping and it was a different story and power was much better. Dave advised that the turbo wasn't holding pressure and we later found that the lower intercooler pipe only had 2 of the 4 jubilees on it; not sure what happened there as we were sure they'd been checked...

Anyway, a short vid of one of the pulls from outside the cell;

Next up was Lee doing the gearbox config; there was a couple of installation issues to resolve but then we cracked on with setting everything up, unfortunately this took until 1 am on Saturday morning!

We decided the best thing to do was drive up and collect the drag wheels and head over for the practice/setup so set off a 1.30 to drive back to Lancaster.

As we pulled into the M6 toll station I felt the brake peddle go soft, pulled away from the booth and hit the brake hard at about 40 and the peddle went straight to the floor as the fluid made a nice puddle on the floor. :(

Waited for the AA to turn up;

During these vents I'd somehow managed to bite on something which had stuck in the roof of my mouth and had become infected so popped for an emergency appointment and left half an hour later with an inch and a half incision in the roof of my mouth which was drained and rinsed - not nice!

My mate allowed me to transport the car to his garage and let us use everything to fix the car, we replaced all the brake lines, set the suspension and 4 wheel alignment whilst we had the opportunity. A huge thanks goes out to David Platt for helping get the car fixed at such short notice on a Saturday out of business hours!

Sunday morning we got up at 5.30 and headed over to Elvington, the car drove well all the way with everything working as expected. At Elvington we changed fuel and map and just intended to have a flyer as a test run which soon became apparent that the car wasn't revving past 5k and drove it round to Dave who reconfigured it and all was good to the 9,500 limit. Set off again to do the sighting run and was using the shiftec which for some reason would change up, not sure if its something to do with greater load on the trans and the system pressure needs increasing but that needs to be resolved.

3rd run was just going to run manual but again pulled the throttle cable, managed to temp fix it and by that time it was too late to do anything other than insure I could drive it home again, which i did and it didn't miss a beat.

So all in all a very testing few days which only saw 1 result of 163 mph in the km, although that was with a low boost race fuel map with no nitrous, several miss shifted gear changes and a very gentle 1st gear roll out so I'm happy in a sense that I know there's a lot more to come from the car!

A couple of pics in the sun this morning at home;

Just wasn't to be in the end which is a shame as I was looking forward to trying the launch control, higher boost and nitrous but never got chance :(

I know it was late when on Sat when I saw you Matt. What happened then? Were you of to the event or of home?

That woman in that Q7 who was moaning at you couldnt get it started... haha.

Fook me that car is loud, Ash couldnt believe it and she was sat in the car!

Hope everything gets resolved mate, I wish I could offer to help but since I have so little time and know nothing id be little more use than a teaboy!

really sory to hear that Matt , i know you had high hopes, there is always next year and the chance now to shake it down properly and enjoy it for the rest of the monsoon , sorry summer season . ........it is looking rather nice though .drooool

Cheers Chris, the brakes failed on Friday night, we spent all day Saturday replacing the original brake lines, setting the suspension and 4 wheel alignment. When we saw you, we were just fuelling ready for setting off Sunday. Oh and bloody Audi drivers! ;)

Steve, main thing is that the engine never skipped a beat, the rest will just come with practice, there can't be anything original left to fail now! See you soon buddy :)
