Recently fitted a Mongoose cat back system,

Not driven her much since, but the trips I have done have given me the impression that there has been a good performance improvement.

Sounds great as well!

Or am I just imagining things?

If you've upgraded from the stock exhausts then you will get a performance boost due to the exhaust being less restricted and able to get rid of gases quicker. So it's all good mate..

I heard that changing out the stock exhaust to a better system can give about a 40bhp increase is that right or just a crazy exaggeration?

Yes Steams,

Upgraded from stock pipes. There were at least 10 years old and I think they had partially collapsed in the back box as well, so happy days.

Think I might go for a blast up and down the M69 tomorrow seeing as the weather looks promising.

Great news Dave... sounds like another Mongoose fan...

Cheers Baz, deffinately a big fan now.

I guess the next step is to replace the next section now, what ever that is called.

Advice please.

I'd say that's a bit of an exaggeration mate - even combined with other mods like an Apex-I air filter and remapping would not get you much more than that; unless you started seriously upping the boost.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I reckon I gained 40bhp. BUT and its a big BUT - my standard exhaust was 22 years old, and nothing much left of it, was totally rotten, so had prob lost 20+ bhp from that. so regained my 20, and another 20 for the upgrade - I reckons anyway lol.

Decats / Front pipes. Bit of a grey area and many are against it as it can accelerate the wear on standard turbo seals... however many people (including me on several Z's) have never had a problem. If you do a search on the forum theres loads of discussions, then make your decision!

I too have just upgraded from an old standard system, I must say it has made a big difference also.

More responsive throughout.

Would like to consider going for the decats, my turbos are standard and have only covered 22,000 miles.

So hopefully they will be up for the job.

As you say Baz, will do some research.

Sounds interesting,

what is the difference between the mongoose and the japspeed ones.

Hopefully they bolt up with no problems, same internal bore etc'

Are they 304 stainless by the way?

i have some really good de-cats coming up for sale. japspeed ones. let me know if your intrested. 50quid plus delivery :)

^^^ Snap them up Dave, very good price.

Mongoose to my knowledge do not manufacture decat pipes, Japspeed are the 'normal' ones that loads of people have. Great build quality and fitment. Got them on both of my Z's

Thanks for the recommendation, just need to know if they are stainless and have the same internal bore etc'

Will deffinately consider them if that is the case.

Yep stainless, same internal bore as far as I know :)

Theres probably 100 Z32s (wild guess?) in the UK running Japspeed Decat pipes mated to a Mongoose Cat Back System... a very popular mix of exhaust components. I've fitted a few sets but to be honest I didn't get the vernier calipers out, just bolted it up lol

Although i have an N/A i have Japspeed manifolds, zcentre decats with silencer and mongoose catback and has made a big difference to the performance. The mongoose has a lovely tone that is also quieter than the Japspeed catback i had previously

Just be aware that the japspeed decats have to be fitted to japspeed divorced downpipes otherwise they won't fit. Unless of course it's different to all the japspeed decats I've seen.

Good point mate but they are a different type, I'll find some pics later to show the difference.

I will take dibs if no one else does. let me know when available. They are for turbo model arent they?

japspeed do two options, just decat pipes, which Will bolt to your standard elbows, or the decats with the divorced split turbo elbows, i have the latter, makes a reet tasty rasp :)

So in short,

if they are the none divorced type, they will fit directly to my standard system along with my Mongoose cat back?

If that is the case then I will definitely take them.

Mikey Bean, If the offer is still open and is as above then please send me your paypal details and I will arrange payment.

Cheers Mate.

Judging from your avatar, yours is a UK spec? Which means one of your downpipes (cant remember which side) has a precat which doesn't match the downpipe opposite. I seem to recall from my UK spec that you will need to fit a JDM downpipe from the offending side in order to fit these decats.
