Stalling

She has recently developed an occasional stall when I depress the clutch as I come to a stop. The revs overshoot idle then don't recover. Tends to happen only at top of motorway exit ramps so it's after she has a bit of excercise. Any ideas?? There are no other hesitations at all.

Regardless of whether the aircon is active or not

clean out the throttle ports and flaps first

after that she would benifit a consult test to check the management data

This may help you. Online service manual pages for Diagnostic procedure 14 - Engine stalls after decelerating.

Sorry to bring this one to the top again. My Z has started to stall after acceleration however it does n't stall if the a/c is on. I noticed Andy's post concerning posidrive's problem and wondered if Andy or anone else could identify the reason.

In my experience this is down to a sticky fast idle control valve or a poor electrical connectoin to it. Take a look at the stalling/hestiation section on www.z-car.net as it details what you have to do to clean it up. Not a big job but a bit fiddly.

Yes Andy is correct - its the idle valve assembly!!!

Easier than fiddling talking the thing off, remove the rubber pipe leading to it from the passenger side of the intake plenum, and squirt a good dose of carb cleaner in the valve... Should sort it out wink.gif Have you just cleaned the throttle bodies???

CheerZ,

Andy

Mine got a hell of a lot better after spraying a LOT of carb cleaner into it. Now she just accsionally dips a bit, most of the stalling has stopped.

Take care getting the end of the hose off the balance tube. It may be a bit brittle. It's also much easier to get off when the engine is warm.

The prob with mine was the electrical connection not the sticky valve, so don't ignore that. BTW it's a pig to get to without taking the valve assembly off.

Thanks guys I guess I know what I am going to be doing this weekend
