Swapping doors

Managed to get hold of a new passenger door shell after the thieving toe-rags peeled a hole in mine.

I've now got to swap everything over, window, motor, locking mechanism etc. and refit the new door.

Has anyone done this before? Any help would be much appreciated. I've taken the 'how to remove door trim and window motor' FAQ from AndyP's tech links, but any other help would be appreciated.

There is not much to it.

Easiest is to unplug the connectors on the inside of the car and then pull them out and then remove the bolts that hold the hinges.(which are a bit hard to get to though)

Also make sure you have a helping hand, since the doors are sort of heavy ! smile.gif

Once you have the door out, start swapping parts from the old door to the new one.

Yeah, that was the way I was going to do it, just wondered if there were any handy hints anyone could give me for the actual swapping.

Ta for that though, think I've found the 4 bolts that hold the door on, but there's also that bar that goes into the door and into the front wing that I reckon I'll have to undo.

Well you could make it up as you go along, take photos and write up a 'How To' afterwards, that's how most of them get done I think.

Good idea, I'll see if I can get hold of a digital camera.
