I've asked this question on some other forums but didn't get a reply. Hoping to get an answer here, since this is a European forum...

 

I live in a country where everything has to be homologated, including the wheels, but I can't find a single TUV for the 300ZX. So I wonder if anyone knows any wheel configurators that have TÜV certified rims for the Z32? The only ones I've been able to find have them only from the 350Z onward. Or if anyone knows where to get TÜV certificate for various wheel sizes for the Turbo?

Its not something we have to deal with in this country, which is surprising as we have to deal with other stupid bloody laws and by laws and rules and regs.

 

I think you would probably get the answer you need from the ministry of transport or other federation in your own country, not much help i know :thumbup1:

homologation is when a manufacturer tests and proves a part, normally the whole vehicle, to an external agency so the manufacturer can claim it will do what they want to claim it will.

Homolgation only applies to certain car manufacturers in this country due to the number(so very little eg TVR, Farbio,Noble need no such certification) of units sold.

Homolgation is backed up with lots and lots in-house testing (not witnessed) and presented as a public document.

-therefore a homologated item is proven safer/ longerlasting & not to fail when used as intended..- NO arguement.

I would suggest wheels like bbs and rays would probably hit TUV standards as they make wheels for the manufacturers

And O.Z alloys will be TUV approved,BBS will definatley be approved as they are made in germany where everything has to be TUV approved

I tried that. I thought they would have a one-off test for these scenarios, but they don't, so they just told me that I can't get larger wheels approved without a TUV. Here's the fun part: when the car was imported here back in 96' the owner only homologated the winter spec tires/wheels combo, so I should only be able to tun 225 all around. Technically I would have an illegal car just by running normal spec summer tires on it :biggrin:

 

The homologation is for the size of the tires and rims together (225/50 R16, etc)

I don't consider myself a noob when it comes to posting on forums, but I can't find the edit button, so sorry for the double-post...

 

I just found a configurator with a TUV for this car through an old & hidden Slovenian forum post from '06. I also found that Alutec has a similar configurator, but it doesn't work for this car.
