Im thinking about deleting them going off what it says in the MOT manual. zeds have wrap around lenses at the front i would say so woulod it pass?

Maybe Jeff will read this and see if he would pass it :)

`Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.`

I believe that the indicators have to be seen flashing from the side AND front (not to mention the rear) view to meet with the law......

.....so if you have them trully wrapped around so they show from the front head on; and from the side view full on, then you would be OK.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Its all in the wording above and nothing else no grey areas. So if i had a indicator cluster on the front and pointed one of the bulbs to the side say the outer one of the 2 then it would pass. I can see this becoming a problem with whichever garage it would be. My understanding then is if you stand at the side and can see a light flashing its legal doesnt matter if its on the front bumper or wing.

Its all in the wording above and nothing else no grey areas.

the most important thing with MOT's is working at time of test, its like an exhaust bracket if its broken it fails if its not there at all it passes,

so if you could make it look like it never had repeaters, :shifty:

When I had my Calibra DTM Edition I sourced a pair of front wings off a Polish registered Calibra that had no side repeater holes on them,as I wanted it to look identical to the DTM in the sales brochure and it passed 3 mot's with none fitted.

Like many things for the MOT if they are fitted they must be working, we have three US left hand drive zeds we look after and all pass the UK MOT and thet do not have front side repeater, basically not fitted so no fail.

The problem is youv'e only read the section that gives you the answer you wanted!. Look further down the information section and you will see it is not quite as simple.

"Lamps incorporating a side repeater are marked either with an ‘E’ mark in a circle or an ‘e’ mark in a rectangle above which is a number 5. However, some vehicles are fitted with a wraparound lens with no European approval markings. These can be tested by standing approximately 1000mm to the side of the vehicle’s rear bumper with the indicator on. If amber light can be seen coming through the front lens (not a reflection) this is acceptable"

Best having a look to see if you can clearly see the lamp from the above position before deleating the side repeater.

Ah yes i see that part. Well if the US spec ones pass then im taking my zed to zedworld for MOT :D

It was just the fact that the wings im getting dont come with holes and didnt want to cut some in if not needed which maybe are not. If they are then ill cross that bridge when i come to it :D
