Me & the wife joined the National Trust last weekend. I thought that was something you did when you retired not when you turn 26 but It was a fun day out at Dunham Massey. Goin to Little Moreton Hall in Congleton on Saturday. Might take the zed if I have her back & it's not rainin. Will have to put my national trust sticker on the windscreen.

You have to wear a green wax coat & green wellies otherwise they don't let you in.

It does save you money if you join, some of the places are quite pricey.

Hmm... could I get away with a tweed jacket and a flat cap? :D

Nothing wrong with that mate - Julia and I have been members for well over 10 years and I'm "only" 42.....

We both like history and the outdoors, so we are members of English Heritage too, and after a few visits to various places it sure does pay for itself. And yes, I do have my sticker in the ZX windscreen - you need it there to get free parking in their carparks!!

LOL - you may say that in jest but it's actually not a bad idea....

......I have been to various National Trust houses only to find, to my pleasant surprise, a car show taking place that very day. I was at Dyrham Park near Bath last summer and the MG owner's club had a big meet there. And only a couple of weeks ago, Julia was doing the Race for Life at Waddesdon Manor, so I wandered off into the grounds for a quiet stroll, only to find there was a big meet for Morgan and TVR owners!!

Oh and at Buckland Abbey a few years back we happend to encounter a Jaguar owners club meet....

Seeing the cars lined up outside a big old stately home made me think that we could do that..... Maybe I'll suggest it to Voddy!!

I remember seeing a classic car show at a national trust house in the lake district when I was a kid, it was great! All the cars wer parked up in the courtyard. Nice venue.

Exactly mate - and there's always somewhere for our wives / girlfriends to wander off to whilst we stand around admiring each others' cars....
