hmm interesting but no difference in the engine itself? I heard there exhausts are a bit different etc.

mechanically there is no difference between JDM to uk,it is down to spec and fittings

why are imports a bit different? (mainly in body panels). Why arnt all the cars exactly the same in each country?

Jdm also has bronze tinted glass, flare holder on passenger footwell panel, boost gauge and oil pressure gauge pressures are different (not in psi).

Different countries have different regulations.

Afaik there are no differences in panels except for side markers in front wings, only bumpers and that is to accomodate things like reg plates, fog lights, light washers, parking aids.

Might be obvious to most here, but UK spec only ever came in 2+2 Twin turbo. The Japanese market got a wide range of models including NA engines, SWB 2 seaters, tin tops. The model ran on until 2000, long after it was axed in the UK, 1999 saw a facelift across the range and a couple of special versions.

Anyone who's mentioning the glass for UK/Jap.

Jap can have Bronze OR Blue glass, but Bronze is much more common.

Are you sure? Its more likely that UK spec glass has been fitted to the Jap car as a replacement for a broken windscreen etc.

To add to this, im told Euro spec cars had some sort of adjustable suspension activated by the handbrake being on the first click. Also UK cars seem to have a button for the heated mirrors in lieu of the folding mirrors, S2+ JDM cars had this but activated by the rear window demister IIRC

It's true! But you could certainly be excused for thinking that Japs only had Bronze glass. I guess mine would be the best example, Jap '98 original blue glass.

coloured glass, where we talking? I have a blue tint across the top of my windscreen. rest of my windows have been tinted black, and not a great job imo. So may have it removed.

Has it got blue glass all round?......every jdm ive seen has got bronze. The firm that replaced my windscreen wanted to put a blue screen in but I said no way and they sourced a bronze one with a green top tint the same as the original :)

It is indeed Blue all around. I'd actually prefer it to be Bronze!

My guess is that the blue was an expensive optional extra that was rarely chosen, or that it was used when production slowed to a trickle up until 2000 or 2001 when the 300 was revived for the facelift just to use up stock.

Ditto :thumbup1:

Im colourlind. and this doesnt really help me lol. As other than the "built in sunstrip" being blue, I havent noticed any other tint on any other glass at all.

I liked my UK spec glass better than the jap.

UK has headlight washers too.

The rear side marker did't light up on my UK one either

I had heated leather seats too (not sure if this was a jap spec option)

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

AND... not to forget the vin plate...

the JAP (Imports) have Chassis numbers that aren't the same coding as the UK spec and so you can't tell the age of the car from the Chassis number.

the VIP plate will be in English, Spanish (looks like Spanish) & Japanese.

The only way is a direct comparison with list of cars made in what year...

this is also useful information (also in the FAQ's on here) but all these parts can be changed easily (or tags cut off)..

Your UK spec (if it has a UK spec rear bumper) wouldn't have had side markers at all.

UK card had heated seats whereas JDM cars had electric folding mirrors! US spec cars had an adjustable suspension damping switch.

like I said in my previous post... all those things can be changed, bumpers, seats, mirrors, interior....

the vin plate (and number stamped on the fire wall) is the best way to confirm.

Mine is import, but managed to get it dated by Chassis Number. Down to Month and year, just not the actual day.

LOL... taken out of context.. cheeky...

i.e. there is no code on the chassis number to tell the age.. you just either have to know or have the list to compare to or ask at the dealers..

Oh, and you're not letting on how you did it!!??
