A standard if well maintained, till what mileage would it be good till? i mean is 130,000 a bit much? What would you expect to go wrong at that mileage?

that's the problem you never know how its been treated in life if you got it 2nd hand ...

some engines don't make 60k some make it to 160k+

History is the key factor on how the car will expected to run

Hard to answer, but I would say a good unstressed and well maintained vg30tt, would piss 150k easily :)

my 1st diesel astra van i sold at 300k and its still going strong now with the person who owns it!! my ex bosses Toyota Hiace has done 400k+!!!

ok ... did u have it from new ?

do you know how it was driven ?

we can not give you the definite answer your looking for

as there is many things that could or couldn't make a good engine

Edited by MarkDerby

mines done around 136k miles now - 50,000+ by me in the last 10 years running increased boost etc :)

Its entirely about how well its been looked after

There are quite a few on the U.S Z forums driving around with over 250k miles on original engine and turbos. :thumbup1:

At the same time, a number of Z's have required engine rebuilds and turbo replacement under 100k miles.

Guys might sound stupid but gotta start somewhere the 3000 number on top of the engine cover what does that stand for?

its the amount of nervous breakdowns the average zed owner has!! :D

or the fact that its a 3 litre engine :)

hmm interesting, thats what i thought, some guy was saying he has a switch that changes the 3000 to 5000. I was like T_T and gives him more power. I just looked at him and thought he is retarded

looking for a nice zed, used to have an auto zed before. Found a manual wide body z in white. But its done 149k mileage and has shit loads of history and work. However current owner cant really speak much english and when i went for a test drive i could hear the gearbox whirring! o.O Also he made the silly comment that you switch this button and the 3000 changes to 5000.!!

maybe he was talking about nitros but clearly he didnt have much knowledge of z's, and i thought i was bad!

this 3000 to 5000???? it not when the tubs kick in is it? seems too high? or maybe its horse power!!!!! wow 5000 horses!! my van is only 1000!!

but for £1800 i thought it was worth a look

get some pics up mate, check for rust and have a good listen to the engine and take it for a good test drive to make sure there are no over-heating or smoking issues?? most 2nd hand zeds are a gamble whether they are £300 or 25k!!!

No - its a different type of BHP - Brake Hampster Power.

Calculated in a similar way but its measured by the amount of hampsters it takes to turn a wheel in their cage. They keep loading hampsters into a running wheel attached to the dyno & when your wheels cant turn anymore thats your BHP figure
