Doesnt look too bad....and its the best colour.depends on how much needs doing to the bodywork as these cars can rust quite bad if neglected.

The running on 5 issue could be as simple as a sparkplug or coilpack connector.....could be as bad as no compression on one cylinder.

If you where interested in it there may be a member local to you that would view it with you, or get the seller to send some detailed pics of the sills, bottom rear quarters, wheel arches etc etc to get an idea of what the bodywork is like.could be a nice project if you got it at a good price :)

Of course you'll be taking a punt on it as you cannot put it through it's paces.

Only had 4 owners, which is actually quite low so people have been happy with it in the main.

It's a jap so another plus point.

Would of liked to of seen some history with it though, so some caution must be shown here.

I'd expect to find perhaps many other issues, but as my good friend above as stated for the right money, £500 - £750 you cannot really go wrong as breaking could recoup a chunk of that

Checked with him he states taht there is no rust or such. Also he has no service history with it. Whats the worst if there is no compression? rebuild? or what would be the worst case cost.

  • Author

supposedly he also changed injectors to 400cc injectors and it ran fine for a few months and now its playing up again, and he just doesnt want to spend anymore money on it.

The question is though, if its got no compression, with my no knowledge of DIY or any expertise. What would be the cost to fix such an issue?

i live just round the corner from this car, if you want i can go and have a look, check out the general condition and see if it is maybe a coil pack problem.

i don't mind having a look as long as you promise to never say super duper ever again

Weird it says it was imported in 2000 but when you check MOT history it only goes till 2010. Any reason why?

If you can get it cheap then it might be worth a punt - otherwise as some have said already, running on 5 could be a simple fix like a coil pack; or at worse a new engine due to the current one being useless.

For a 4 owner (4 UK owners presumably) 300zx to have no previous MOTs I would be suspicious. A lot of 300zxs are owned by enthusiasts who would make the effort to keep such documents to prove the car's pedigree should they come to sell it later. How many of us have receipts for everything they have done to their cars....?

If 10 out of 12 years of MOTs are missing, then the car could have been owned by the type of person who wanted a fast car, bought it, thrashed it for a year or so, and then realized they couldn't afford to run it; hence got rid. Lack of MOTs for that period of ownership suggests some or all of those 4 owners were not exactly careful owners - which could point to the 5-cylinder running issue being more serious!!

Just my thoughts - you could buy it for peanuts, spend a couple of grand and have yourself a nice car. Or you could spend a bit more and buy a car that is nice already. Caveat Emptor mate......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
