So with very little notice the rain shower over head changed to a full on tropical storm with lashing rain, hail hig winds and the kind of rain that is more akin to a monsoon !

15 minutes of it resulted in a flooded worksop (came under the shutter door as the drains were overwhelmed) the inner back offce ceiling came down with the weght of water that came through the main roof, the valley gutter at the back of the worksop could not cope and gallons of water formed a near water fall down the back wall and all of the tool chests, compressor and the main electrical distibution board, whilst running around doing our best to arrest the onslaught of flood water in the workshop and moving cars, tools and scores of boxes to dryer area`s the power went off!! the ceiling in the back office dropped and completely took out two computors and 2 shelves of folders with vat and tax paper work in!! running in to the office to try and save the pc`s and tables and chairs from the continual torent of rain flowing over the valley gutter, all with thunder and lighting, very high winds and the rain all adding to the drama.

Finally the rain subsided and the wind, hailstone etc and the flaming sun came out then like all was good again...................yes right nearly 4 hours of cleaning up! so we could complete the days works and then another two hours cleaing in the office.

A few pics taken, really dont show the chaos of the moment but you will get an idea, and the next door MOT garage got it bad in their workshop as the sunken 4 poster bed filled up as did the brake tester.

Ah well at leat it was an excuse to clean the floor!

Bless... Jeff, you have loads of money to sort it all out... I wouldn't worry lol.

If it was one of us we'd be a bit more p!ss3d off bud!!

P.S It's lovely and sunny here lmao

Oh dear Jeff, what a mess!

I assume that gold vert is the one recently for sale? I hope the new owner knows he got a bargain!

Bloody hell Jeff...that looks awful.Hope normality soon returns mate :)

Left Telford this morning to go to the unit in Shrewsbury in a thunderstorm with torrential rain......got 7 mile down the A5 and the sun was out!!!, this weathers bloody weird! :(

linda was saying it was raining when i rang the second time, i could hear it in the back ground and she wasnt even in the work shop.

Hi jeff / jamie maybe you could fit my car to become seaworthy .Sorry to see the damage you have sustained .Hopefully not to severe more superficial than anything .

I am a self employed plumber and builder and home improver if I can help you in anyway give me a shout .I do insurance work everything .you have my number if I can help .

Hopefully your back up and running .

I visited at about 2pm and 4hours of hard work by Jeff an Jamie had cleared the floor but damage was still there. Linda was trapped on an expedition for parts. The floods. Jeff was calmly making sure that all 6 spark plugs were checked , not something that less diligent garages perform .

Bloody hell Jeff - I hope there wasn't too much damage mate; who'd have thought it in late June???

And so much for global warming too..... Althought as i said in Gaz's thread, it was 27 and sunny down here from about 11am onwards and I'm ony 100 miles away!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My heart goes out to you & lynda. I have been there myself & its heartbreaking. I hope you can get things sorted asap.

Chin up my friend, hope your buisness can continue without too much disruption.

Hope to see you all in a few weeks.

(shall i bring my welly's lol)

Thanks for the kind words, was a real manic 30 minutes followed by hours of cleaning up we all got wet through to boot.

The office has been cleared and spent tonight wet vacuuming all of the water out of the carpet, moved all of the furniture back in and just got some new ceiling panels to slide in tomorrow, the workshop stereo is a gonna which is sad ...... the sun came out in the afteroon and so opened up both the roller shutters and with the slight breeze actually dried a lot of the workshop out.

So business as usual tomorrow

Sorry to see the damage Jeff, TV has been showing some incredible storm images, seems you got the thick end of it...might want a word with your Landlord about the buildings integrity?

Now more important things, that's a very nice E39..yours? :thumbup1:

Hard luck Jeff, apparently it was a rare super cell thunderstorm. Around here cars were covered in sandy blobs which were deposited with the rain. Nice photo's of the Z's in your unit, impressive set up.

"Super cell thunderstorms were common in areas like the plains of the US Midwest but made up just 1% of storms in the UK, according to Paul Knightly, senior forecaster with Meteogroup, the weather arm of the Press Association.

They can do "disproportionate damage" by bringing with them large hailstones, tornados, heavy rain and and high winds, he said

Three of them had been caused by a "Spanish plume", a warm weather front heading north from Iberia which has risen over cooler Atlantic air as they meet over the British Isles, leading to powerful thunderstorms, he added.

"They (the plumes) happen from time to time and we get some massive thunderstorms and large hailstones," he said.

"But today had the added factor of high wind-shear (sideways movements). What that does is cause the thunderstorms to become more prolonged, and when that happens they can get more intense.

"Today they were rotating; it is called a super cell thunderstorm."
