well got back from mexico yesterday,

when't to start car today after being stood for a week..............and

hydraulic tappets making a right din...

eventually stopped rattling only to find the right hand exhaust smoking like hell,....

well it looks like the engine rebuild is happening sooner rather than later!!!

so the question is whats the sort of prices for say gaskets,rebore+pistons,oil pump....etc,

well at least it's happened now so i can have it rebuilt for nurburgring!!!!

i've got a budget of around £4k so see what happens with that!!

seen some nice turbo's that i really want,but just waiting for someone to get his car together so he can tell me what they are like,,,,so hurry up man!!!!you know who you are????

I just had my engine looked at by the Nissan dealer to look for reasons for my tach oscillation. They couldn't find out what was doing it, but they pointed out gasket leaks causing oil to run down on he exhaust. (I just got a new rear main seal. Anyone have some advice on how to do this?)

 

Anywho, it could just be oil inside or on the exhaust.

the oil is deffo from inside the exhaust,and no i ain't took it for a run yet,,BUT..

surely its trying to tell me something ie..turbos shagged and if i'm changing the turbo's it would be false economy not to rebuild the engine at the same time ....97k on it!!

It's a pretty common problem for Zeds that have't been started for a few days/weeks to make a tapping noise (caused by the hydraulic lifters)

The smoke is probably a leaking oil seal (in the turbo) or some oil that has build up in the intake manifold and is now sucked into the engine causing the smoke.

 

Just take it for a good run and the smoke/noises will probably be gone.
