Ok, I have now purchased my boost gauge and will be fitting it this week. Now the question is were should i fit it in the cabin? I have been swaying towards removing the ashtray and fitting it there, but keeping the lid so to keep the standard look when closed. Anyone done this before or is there a reason why this isn't an option? Any other suggestions fire away.

Cheers in advance

I have my boost gauge in the drivers door vent ,as the vent is as much use as a chocolate fireguard

one good reason for not fitting it there would be that you cant see it when driving :)

It's only really for having a glance at though, not to stare at plus your more likely to look on a straight piece of road rather than a corner. Thats what made me think it wouldn't be the worst place. I will see if any other ideas come up.

The time it takes for a quick glance down and actually register what boost level its at, may be enough time for it all to go horribly wrong... I think if you can keep it on the dash somewhere your eyes dont have to wander as far and you can always see the road ahead. You can get simple mounts that the gauge fits into which you can screw onto the steering column shroud etc?

I see what your saying, would ideally like it to look very subtle rather than just stuck on.

hmmm. Glovebox then? Well hidden and you can always grab a passenger to check on boost levels when you want?

Actually really liking that, were have you wired it into?

It is chased into the door gromit thingy with the rest of the door loom and wired into the dash and into the boost sensor under the bonnet

Depending on what gauge it is and what features it has would govern where id put it. A normal gauge as baz said in line of side or close too would be ideal, but with most now you can set higher limits giving a warning tone when reached. with those i would move them to a more 'head down' location. My favorite position has always been mantav8's center vent builds!

This is my glovebox install btw in case you've not seen one, I've actually put my gauges elsewhere now.
