My Zed passed the MOT a couple of weeks a go with aftermarket HIDs fitted, no advisory and no problems at all

If they had been excessively blue........they would have failed.

I had mine back in March I think; and the tester had me sit in the car to operate brakes, lights etc as his assistant was busy....

......and he didn't even give a mention to the HIDs even though they were plainly obvious by the way they come on. And he never checked that the headlight washers worked either (which they don't - LOL)!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

you will find there only pulling up drivers have have HID fitted to normal balist type lights ...

all our Zeds use Projector type lights ... this will all ways give the correct beam patten

same here. HIDs fitted. No comments. I took a few tools so I could set the beam 100% on the test ramps!

I went to all the trouble of sourcing and fitting a new headlight washer pump for the MOT...............and they never checked it either

mines just gone through its mot again . apparently the hid issue does not apply yet

wasn't there a discussion about this a while back? think i remember someone saying that it will only be a problem with newer cars that don't come with them as standard.

i could be completely wrong though (i usually am:blink:)

Something to do with self leveling and headlight washers, but only if fitted. Cant be tested if not there or fitted as standard.

Had mine 2 weeks ago and passed with HIDs no problem. Had them on for 3 MOTs now.

It did however fail on the colour of the sidelights, despite passing for the last 2 years. He reckoned it looked a little blue (white leds) but I didn't want to argue so replaced them with my old bulbs. The sidelights now look horribly yellow, especially against my white HIDs!

i remember the thread a while back

but good to know that they arnt a problem

HID's will never be an issue for zeds as the new rule's will only apply to cars from 2012/13 (or when ever vosa actually bring it in) onwards.
