ecu reprogram after aiv removal

ive just been chatting to one of members in the states and after explaining about my hesitation probs after i removed my aiv's,he seemed to think that i have to have my ecu reprogramed to compensate the for removal of the aiv's

is this a load of crap its the first time ive ever heard this?

maybe a ecu reset not reprogram?

anyone????

depends on what chip you have..

if you have the JWT, then the AIV's are already disabled in the chip.

If you still have a standard chip it needs to be replaced/reprogrammed.

For other chips I'm not sure...contact the vendor.

thanks lymon,i'd never heard of this.thought the guy was full of it and i didnt want to say anything until i'd checked first.

as a non tech'y wat do the aiv's do?

also to top it off i got my car back today and i still have the gurgle,

its getting to be a pain in the bum!

a gargle noise which i hear in time with rev'in my car when engine is up to temp.

radiator checked /flushed and seems normal!

Hi ya jay, it is true about the ecu. the aiv's inject air in to the exhaust on tick over( this is all to do with passing emmisions) makes it look like the car is running cleanner than it is!

the ecu also puts a certain ammount more fuel in too. this keeps the cats up to opperating temp. your hesitation was probably cos it was running too rich on tick over and on low revs! i.e when you stuck your foot down the engine bogged down slightly due to too much fuel being in the cylenders that should not of been there!

is your car running rich? is the idle slightly lumpy or eratic?

hope this helps

Kris

think my car is running rich?

not lumpy but idle is sometimes erratic.

What's the downside of not having the stock ECU replaced after removing the AIVs. I've just removed mine because the valves and the filters were completly clogged and I couln't get them open the clean them becaase the screws have badly rusted. I don't get any hesitationeith hot or cold.
