So what's happening with this dibs in selling parts? As I called dibs and it got ignored and a mod bought the parts.

Does this not stand anymore? Just so I know for next time when dibs are called ill just ignore and proceed to buy even if he or she is online to close the deal. I was waiting for a price so could not close the deal so called dibs.

As there was no dibs on that thread which as I have stated I believe should be the right thing. I suggest you go and look at the thread as I remember a certain amount of f ing and such directly after my post. That's if it hasn't been edited.

I am not spitting my dummy out about it Gary as I am quite happy to go and buy new just stating now steams has changed his view when he is not involved. Although I wouldn't expect direct jests from you with your position in the club.

Here you go; http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?150006-Blitz-Boost-controller&highlight=Blitz+SBC

So anyone who wants to read the thread can. It was you that was f'ing and such.

I personally think that Gibster is right and I have told Ian this but at the end of the day it is DOWN TO THE SELLER. I also only got involved when there was a suggestion that mods are privileged when it comes to selling, as I am now a Mod I thought that this should be cleared up straight away, as we do not.

I have also not changed my view. I suggest you get your facts right before you go spouting off!

I already sent PM to Gibster. As i mentioned before - there was no set price on item, and i asked for offers - not dibs (what a hell is that?). If i offended Gibster - i can only apologise buddy for "ignoring" you, it was no done on purpose.

I can vouch that Steams has told me he thought it was wrong of me to make an offer when GIBSTER-TT had put dibs on the item. I can see both sides now, when I read the thread again. I have apologised to GIBSTER-TT and offered to let him purchase the item from me at the price I paid, and I can't do any more than that.

I also suggest you curb the aggressive tone it is not wanted here.

Maybe you should look at your own posts and have a long think about it before posting anything else Gonzo like I said we are trying very hard to keep the peace on this thread so maybe you should try also.

Just read that thread, dave you were perfectly in your right to be a bit pee'ed.

Again, shouting DIBS, doesnt make it so the seller has to honour that then getting shirty when it isnt.

Being able to ask genuine questions about the item first, especially if you do not know, is perfectly fine as well, why should someone just jump into a purchase of an item that might well not be for there needs just because someone might yell dibs.

Gonzo in that thread, you actually showed no respect for your fellow forum member, you may very well have known what that item was, its specs and what not, steams clearly didnt so was asking the questions to make sure it was what he needed before committing to buy, had you actually respected that fact, you would have said "well if steams doesnt have it, ive got cash waiting" or even offered up the information to him as well, and all would of been good in the land of the zed, everyone would of known where they stood and your bad feelings for the forum, wouldn't of come to light.

Seems there is a bit of shirt pulling going on here and id just like to say can we nip it in the bud, this should be a discussion about whether a seller wants to do dibs or not. i still think that ends up solely on the side of the seller NOT the buyer, but also as buyers people should show a little respect to those expressing an interest in an item that people are clearly asking questions about, to gain information before they commit to a purchase which as a buyer NOT in the know, is perfectly at rights to do, with out someone jumping down their throat about it.

Hadn't noticed that I was being aggressive you just don't like being proved wrong.

Your beginning to annoy me now. If you call into question my integrity again I will give you a little holiday. Take this as your first and last warning.

Thanks mate, I tried to be fair on that sale..

So let me get this straight - If someone calls dibs (but does not offer any price, etc) has first hand in purchase, even do someone offers good offer on item straight after?

Also - how long do you wait for "dibs" people to make you an offer? Sorry, I am new to this.

Its all up to the seller mate he decides what he wants and how or to who he sells it to.

Just my 2p worth, I think you all have good points.

Its a hard one when asking questions, are you asking something out of interest/curiosity or because you generally want to buy the item. I've asked questions on stuff before because I'm curious about it or what it does but not because I want to buy (I'm sure loads have done this), on the other hand I've asked questions because I want to look at buying. Then someone else had jump in and bought it, personally I just thought, oh well, I should said I would have it quicker.

I agree there should be courtesy on sale threads but I also think if your interested then you should say.

I quite like the whole dibs thing sometimes. For example someone puts a for sale thread up saying they are selling lights but there's no pictures so someone says dibs as they want them but pending pictures so they can see the condition.

I think it's completely up to the seller to say if dibs are okay or not, likewise its up to the seller to say to whoever is interested that someone else has first resusal.

Calling "Dibs" is a stupid system, I'll just go through every for sale thread now and call dibs on every item, then never actually buy any of it.......

Exactly my point ... First dibs on everything guys! Will check and respond later...

These problems usually arise when the seller puts up a poor for sale thread - Missing details, missing photo's. One person needs more info, whereas another just comes along and buys it.

Its always up to the seller who he sells too, but if you place an advert and miss out vital info then some courtesy would nice.

The best thing to do is just not place adverts missing important info/pics.

Other forums have For sale templates in place, where the seller has to fill out required information to place the advert, helps to ensure important stuff is not missing and makes the seller think about what they need to list.

In this case though, Dibs is not event relevent, since the seller asked for offers and sold to the first person that made one.

First dibs on everything guys! Will check and respond later...

Just to lighten the mood, I'm going to say if Winnie doesn't buy every item I'll be interested lol

Yowser comment is a good idea! ! A template is needed which should solve many problems when selling items!

Dibs used to work well and was used a lot from what i remember a few years back! It also works well if you spot something you want but your not in a position to spend a lot of time online to discuss it because of work or no signal etc. Or the seller is not online to reply when you are online!

Once home or recieved better signal you could finish the deal...But like i said lesson learnt and noted today and consider it over and done with. I have no issues.

So its all the case who can transfer the funds quicker now!
