Looking for some advice. Now, my engine knowledge is very limited so i'll do my best here.....

Very basic overview is i've had a TT engine rebuilt and installed into my once NA zed.

We're now ready to fire it up, got all excited but it wont fire. Seems to backfire when trying.

Does anybody have any suggestions what could be wrong? I'd imagine it could be a number of things.

We are going to try another CAS - it looks as if the timing is 180deg out. The CAS worked fine before hand but ive had it chromed which may have fooked it up??

The cam timing appears to be ok, we dont think there is a problem there. I am running JWT cams.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

The engine man told me lol.

I dont have a MAF - well i do, it just isnt used. I have an AEM ECU with MAP sensor. They did try firing it up with the standard ECU but no joy either.

PTU was fine before hand but i could always try another. Sure i have a spare somewhere

Are all the super brains in hibernation?

Have you got data scan or consult, just to check all sensors are active etc.

Nope :(

Zx-tt, yeah, they will be the first things I try

Plug teh stock ECU back in again, do an ECU diagnostic and diregard the code for the MAF, any remaining codes should hopefully point you in the right direction.

Fix that then plug yer AEM back in again!

Cheers smithy, I'll give that a try

hi sounds like your ptu on the drivers side front of cam cover check the connectors mine done the same turned out that the connectors where corroded

Ok, this may be a ridiculous question but here goes...........

The car had an immobiliser prior to the engine swap. Now that the engine and ECU have been swapped, will the immobiliser still work?

I have no idea how immobilisers work so i aint sure if that question is retarded or not lol

check under the steering column, you need to see if the immobiliser is connected to the wires leading to the ignition, though usually an immobilizer will stop the car cranking all together.

With the immoniliser my engine did crank, just didnt fire up. The amount of times i thought my car wouldnt start then i remembered the immobiliser lol
