Rough Idle - Any Ideas

Featured Replies

My guess is the tps. i think there is a way to see if its working using a voltmeter.

Run your scan mate then post up the results, that way we can tell you if anything is off etc...

Yeah lol. Think I stand a chance?

Being from Sunderland you and Stella will be in the top two..

Have you managed to run the tests yet? really interested...

Yeah, but it stopped being rough when I went for it. It's sporadic.

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

On first glance, your TPS is a little high set it to 0.44v (don't forget to pull the lead for 10secs while engine running to reset). After you've done that the idle looks to be high as well wind the screw back to bring it down to 750rpm.

Try that first to see if it's any better :)

The problem with the idle is it's a bit up and down depending on how it feels at the time lol. I'll change the tps and see how it goes. Would that make it lumpy?

i would'nt touch idle adjustment untill you have checked all the other perameters thats causing the rough idle imho

What like the TPS and the ICV?

The o2's don't really do anything until they are up to temp and the engine rpm is above 2000rpm. You need to get the engine above 2000 to test them. They should pulse up and down smoothly.

Change the tps, seems to be running a lot smoother now.

Revs are still sitting around te 1k mark but I'll run it a few times before I change revs down slightly.

Do you think anything else seems out?

The O2 sensors are moving back and forth, the left one seems to go between 30-100 and the other goes from 20-60. This is when revs are just over 2k

Does that seem okay?

Heres the current reading...
