Brake disc size?

im looking for new front and rear brake discs for my 89 n/a.

im not sure on the size though, will 280mm x 30mm fit??

Featured Replies

Rear brakes are the same for TT and N/A the older N/A had 280x26mm on the front, later models same as TT, measure the disc thickness, it will give you an idea of what you have. They are still available, but eventually (if you have the older 26mm) i would change to TT calipers, then future buying is easier.

Thanks, I'll check 2moro. Think I might change the front calipers as it is the older n\a

Dont know if you would be interested but I have got a pair of tt front discs in good condition and two pairs of 30mm alloy tt calipers for sale :)

You can have the lot for £200 plus i'll throw in a pair of braided steel brakelines......worth that easy as popular upgrade on s13's and s14's :)

No mate, just plain.one set of calipers have standard pads, the other set have ebc yellowstuff pads with life left in the.also one set are plain and the other are painted red with proper caliper paint :)

Old thread I know but since it is about disc sizes I thought I'd post here.

So I've bought some replacement front pads and discs for my Z but I have a NA and the discs I bought are for the TT. After having a ******* of a day trying to get things to fit and rotate smoothly I decided to leave it and return tomorrow.

Now after some research I've found that TT discs are 4mm wider than the NA ones. Should I just put my old ones back on with the new pads and then once the pads have worn down a bit will I be able to stick the new discs on and run with them?

Its only the pre 91 N/A that had the 26mm front discs, after that they had the same as the TT 30mm, i wouldnt advise doing that, i would put your old discs and pads back on and get yourself some TT calipers, then replace the discs with the TT ones you have bought. You can probably get hold of some TT calipers for under a £100, but well worth it for future disc and pad purchase.

Agreed, callipers aren't expensive and biggred will sort you a rebuild kit for 25 quid or so to make sure they're tip top :)

Yeah I spent the evening researching everything again and the tried on the discs with just the callipers and they rub against each other. Left the new pads on with the old discs since they had to be changed anyway.

Now to stick callipers on the shopping list :/ I forgot how old cars love pinching every spare penny you have in your pocket.
