I know I am probably teahing most people who post here to suck eggs, but just in case you are interested....

I followed the instructions to clean out the throttle bodies today, and it seems to have done the trick to my idling problem.

Whilst I was doing it I noticed that my throttle cable was quite loose, so I tightened it using the two nuts. What a difference, I guess it's my fault for forgetting it when I have been servicing the car (it's easy to overlook).

Makes a hell of a lot of difference, like I said it's easy to miss and cables do stretch over time. Check yours it only takes a few minutes to do. You don't even have to open the bonnet - just puch the accel. with your hand to feel how much play there is.

That's it....

is this at the actual accellerator?? and how was your car ideling before you cleaned the throttle bodiesas i think i might do mine

DO THEM!!!!! It makes a huge difference - they clog up over time because the PCV valves put oil vapour from the crankcase back into the inlet manifold to burn off. This doesn't all get burnt and residue builds up on the throttle bodies around the butterflies.

I cleaned mine a month ago - what a difference smile.gif Just remember to leave the battery off for half an hour to reset the ecu - it needs to re-learn the airflow characteristics.

Cheers,

Andy

Did the throttle bodys on sunday, brand new battery bought on sunday was not put on purposly for most of the day. But since- start up idle is around 2200 rpm, normal idle is 1600 rpm. Yes I did remove s/driver from pulley! Removed all pipes looked at, and cheaked every thing since.

Any ideas, people.

very revvy harve- launches are interesting though.

Hiya Harve - long time no email m8 smile.gif The idle will sit high for quite a few miles while the ECU re-learns the airflow characteristics. It should settle after a while mate.
