Whats the next step for my Zed?

I bought my TT Zed off a club member about 1 and half years ago and have enjoyed it almost daily. I have had the odd niggle but for a 21 year old car it has been great.

It is quick but I would like to get a bit more reliable power out of it. This always happens with me and new cars!

It has been modified a little (spec below) but I am after some advice as to how best to spend some cash on increasing the performance but maitaining the reliability? I understand that the skys the limit but I would probably be comfortable spending 2/3k....

Also what sort of power figures should I be getting at the moment? Its running about 1 bar pressure.

ENGINE:

K&N intake

BOV's

SS Headers

Jim Wolf Technologies ECU

SGP lightweight underdrive pulley

Apexi Avc-r Boost controller

Greddy timing belt

Koyo Radiator

Air-Con removed

Aftermarket Oil cooler

Polyurethane fuel and vacuum pipes

EXHAUST

Decatt

Divorced downpipes

Vailside Evolution stainless steel exhaust

Help appreciated!

seems you have enough to push it forward some more, should be looking at late 300 bhp, say around 375, get the engine working spot on with the boost, and then look at upgrading the suspension, and braking.

go adjustable and bigger disks. then you can sort the ride height out and stop the dam thing.

Thanks for the reply already running with:

adjustable upper link arms

adjustable lower tension rods

TEIN "Control Master" Fully adjustable shocks

Tein Springs

DriftWorks complete Hicas Eluminator Kit

DriftWorks subframe collars

CZP braded clutch line

CZP Upgraded clutch pivot ball

Redline MT90 Gearbox oil

Redline Heavy Shockproof Diff oil

R33 GTR Brembos with EBC Disks

Ferrodo DS 2500 Pads

Goodridge braded brake hoses

CZP Brake Master Cylinder stopper

Also on the shelf soon to be fitted is the Tein EDFC electronic damping controller from inside the car, so suspension will be fully adjustable when required.

I feel like I have a lot of the supporting mods but need to make the next step up.

id say 350 at the moment.

At the moment your limited by injectors, intercoolers and then potentially turbos as with more boost after upgrading the other two they will be pushed to limit.

With that the you will need a remap which will see you getting over 400 depending on what quality you go with on the other items.

They were my thoughts. I would rather not take the engine out although new bigger tubs would be nice.

What sort of money are we looking at for that?

Could I get some decent gains out of better intercoolers and injectors and a remap?

Also want to get a lighter flywheel and a decent clutch..

i know you can pick up decent clutches for around 200-300 iirc names like Exedy or RPS. flywheel well seen them go for 100 second hand was one not long ago.

you would get good gains from injectors, ICs and a remap its the next limiting factor. But price wise its up to you what brand you go for ebay 150 to Greddy for a grand ish iirc. Injectors about 400 i think. just all depends if you go new or whichever.

Tubs well there is all sorts that people are fitting so it depends on cash and if you want some chinese turbos spinning round in your engine for 50 quid. Im keen on my quality items so i thing the turbos i have for my engine are about 4k or something daft.

bolting bigger tubs on a 20 year old block is probally going to prove false ecconomy. so you would ideally be looking at a rebuild before pushing through the 450 barrier etc. you may well get a good gain with biogger injectors and intercoolers allowing you to run higher boost safely without risk of det. however you are going to be running damn close to the usefull part of the turbo, ie it will be running outta puff.

you could hit 400 on bigger injectotrs etc 370 odd would be the limit without doing further upgrades to the supporting system.

Thanks

4k for tubs are a bit rich for me, especialy as the engine has to come out, but the other mods seem worthwhile.

So with some decent intercoolers, injectors and a remap what should that acheive?

Is it better to keep with the side mounted items or go for a fmic?

4k .... noo ... 1500 at the best for Hybrids or off the shelf small'ish ones but better then stock

250 for intercooler/pipes

300 for 555 injectors

100 for ECU/Chip remap

you would be looking about 370 i would say it all starts to get hazy on figures but i would hope closer to 400.

SMIC vs FMIC is still a big debate and seems to be down to personnel taste. for SMIC Ashspec ones prove to be awesome. I myself like the FMIC look and have a Greddy IC but its all your own taste whether to keep the stock look of go agressive with the FMIC showing
