Anyone know where I can find this info? Used search feature but nothing :(

Im sure I saw it somewhere,

Ideally, would like to work out the date of manufacturer as DVLA say its first registered Feb 1990 and one owner from new, however Masayuki insists its a 1993 as he bought it new himself in Tokyo in the March of 1993.

Thanks in advance.

does it not say on the seat belt the year of manufacture?

Good point. Car not at my house though, its up the inlaws farm lol - will check it out if I get no response, eitherway, I need to prove it to DVLA so I can use my private reg on the car :(

Yeah, the best way is to check the date on your seat belts. That gives an accurate date as to when the car was manufactured. Assuming they haven't been changed at some point.

ok, Im going to go and visit my Zed. do a little investigating lol.

Chat soon :P

Check all four belts mate. If they match date wise then it's a fair bet the haven't been changed. Probably..

i'm not sure how ryan can use the seat belts to prove the age to the dvla though!? :blink:

Once a date of manufacture has been put on the v5 by dvla I cant see them changing it.surely dvla went off the information the original owner supplied them with to re-register it in this country?.

hmmm need to get the Vin number now lol. its not on the V5, V5 is very vague. States its a nissan, no model name at all, not even a colour.

Vin number area just shows chassis number, which makes no sense vs the how to read vin link above :s

Chassis Number should start with one of the following :

Z32 = 2 seater Non Turbo JDM

CZ32 = 2 seater Twin Turbo JDM

GZ32 = 2+2 non Turbo JDM

GCZ32 = 2+2 Twin Turbo JDM

HZ32 = Convertable Non Turbo JDM

RGZ32 = 2+2 Twin Turbo UK

UK models also have something like JNO at the very front.

Then the rest of the number will help date the vehicle, I had a list somewhere of Date ranges for Chassis numbers...will try and find it.

Spot on Yowser...

that is the best way to tell, all the other stuff can be replaced or tags cut off (like on my car)....

the other way is to take the Chassis number to a Nissan dealer (parts department) and they can confirm the age.

This is interesting because I was thinking about this just this morning, but for a Mazda (VIN: FD3S - 112702)

any ideas?

I'd guess the last 6 numbers are the date in the American format so 11= November, 27= day, 02= year, at a guess anyway lol

Anyone with the Nissan FAST cd can do that too.

It'll just be a serial number, sometimes the first digit or two signify different revisions of the model.
