A minor (but annoying problem):

As soon as I turn on the ignition (NOT start the engine even), I get a rattly buzzy sound from the courtesy light cluster above my head. It continues once the engine's on too, and basically it only shuts up when the ignition is off. What can it be? The climate control is off completely, btw. I don't understand why anything should be making a noise when nothing is running :/

Anyone got any ideas? It seems minor, but it's pretty damned annoying (especially when your desk at work is right next to a fish tank that makes a similar noise).

i believe someone once said that there was a fan to cool the interior lights down. |Could be them.

Ah.... That explains the two vent hole thingies that the noise is coming from. Does the nasty noise mean it needs attention, do you think?

This morning was the first time it's been persistent & loud enough to track down - the light wasn't on, the doors hadn't been left open (to make it come on), and it isn't *especially* hot or sunny... Does the fan come on regardless, or only when it feels the light is hot enough to need it?

Oh, thx for the info, btw smile.gif

Move the fish tank so the Zed experience is different to sitting at your desk??? LOL

The noise comes from the fan hich draws air over the aircon temperature sensor. It's really annoying, turn your stereo up or there's an article somewhere about lubricating the bearing, never been able to get the screw out to disassemble mine for service...

Seems to me that the fan 'kicks' due to the magnets that drive it causing a high frequency wobble and hence the buzz..

Cheers,

RobH

Ah, so it's fairly normal? Well, that's something, I guess smile.gif I don't have a stereo as yet, so turning it up is out of the question :/

As for the fish tank, well, I'm starting to get used to it again now... I was getting a little on edge sitting in the Z listening to this noise, and I guess the fish tank just carried that on. Now I'm back into work mode, and the fish noise is safely blanked out again smile.gif

Thanks again, especially RobH biggrin.gif

there is a page in twinturbo.net in the faq bit that tells how to oil the fan.

Sorted! Thanks, Devil smile.gif I guess I should have looked myself... didn't realise it would be such a common problem...
