of course you can import them - you can import what you want as long as you can find it in japan!

what sort of Z do you want?

I believe you can still import cars if you know how and have the time. Is there anything specific you are looking for?

perl white tt auto 1994 on.... iv search the jap importers and no body has any for sale.

There are auction sites you can look at, or even go to one of the importers and ask them to find you one. Any reason it has to be an auto?

i love autos and im a lazy driver if the truths known;)) do you know how long it would take to import one?

New Era imports were always good. Not sure if they are still about though :s

Its not economical to impor a single car ata time. its around £2,000 a container, ideally best to use an importer, who will source a car for you - and import them in bulk, thus reducing your costs.

just an idea.

Peo, I have the Auto too, wish it was manual after just 90 miles of driving.

best to test drive a couple.

the price to import a minter, might be worth buying one, having a rebuild and respray - to your exact requirements.

are the autos dodgy then? even the later models ?

its not that the autos are dodgy or even bad (que the long running debate) but the problem is the auto is showing its age, its very much a late 80's gearbox, 3 speed plus overdrive, not very smart and really does seem to make a huge dent in fuel consumption. I suppose the polite way to describe the box is "period", my first 300zx was an auto which i eventually had converted and the difference in performance, fun and economy (+5mpg for me!) in my personal opinion was lightyears away.

You're coming from an X5, a 4.8is no less, a very nice car with a fabulous modern steptronic BMW 'box which is just lightyears away from a 300zx box. There were no important changes to the auto gearbox right through the production of the 300zx so regardless of year they are all the same, depending on condition of course some will be better than others.

im not to worried about fuel consumption hence my 4.8is,and i do love autos:thumbup1: have any of you guys seen that zx on youtube? type in [300zx trailer] thats what im looking to build in auto so i can just cruise, its superb i think:thumbup1:

The only reason I wish I had a manual is that

1: there is a delay when you put your foot down, very slight, but its there,

2: it changes gear when I dont want it too!

3: It doesnt change gear when I want it too,

4: I could be cruising along at around 50mph - between 40-60 and it will keep up and down shifting in that range, as though it cant just hold it in gear - which I would in a manual.

I have a button called "Hold/Power" Once your upto pace, it pays of to press hold, to hold it in gear, but it is still annoying nonetheless.

Plus we have lots of lorries and tractors here in somerset, so you do a lot of overtaking, on quite windy country roads. would be much easier to shift down and go for the overtake, but with the auto, you get that slight delay, and then bam, its shifting through the gears at full boost, and your just going way to fast.

The car is fast, and prob accelerates better than most manuals due to the lack of driver error. However more experienced owners with manuals, I would like to assume would be even quicker than the auto. I see people here modding to 500bhp+ to me, the car is more than fast already. Even in my 22year old Auto its as fast as my partners dads MK2 Focus RS, He just cant get away, and after 80mph (on privately owned land) the Zed starts to pull clear.

the 1and 2 on the auto box arnt they for quick starts and overtaking at lower speeds?

no, its for limited the car to those gears for decending long grades in order to stop cooking the brakes.

It does also aid in performance meaning that the car doesnt have to change down in order to overtake.

Wont really help with quick starts as the car will use first if its stationary regardless of the position of the gear stick.

Personally I would never deal with neweraimports..when I first started looking for my Z years ago; they told me about them, I called them up, they said to speak to a guy named Miguel whow as suppose to info me about all auctions and I went straight and told him; I want you to look for a Z for me clean stunning; his reply was..well..there isn´t many Z32 in Japan...bla bla..wouldn´t you prefer to buy a RX7? there much better cars than Z32..I was like, WTF! is this guy dumb? or he doesn´t pay any attention to me? I said I want a Z! not a RX7 or Celica or Supra... after that he said ok will keep you in touch and will look for one. Months went by..no calls, no emails, no shit; called him again (he was in Japan) and he said..oh your Z thatá right sorry had much work and keeping busy; at that very moment I said, look, forget the damn Z, you are not a professional at all.. as matter fact you are full of heavy shit; I quoted bonsaicars and they where very nice to me compared to neweraimports.
