I've got one. It's the model that is just over a year old. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Well here goes.... I've got an Alpine CVA-1000r TV/Tuner with the Alpine ERA-G320 Equaliser. I have two amps running off the equaliser as well as a CD Changer. All is running well and has been for the last 6 months. I have just bought the TUE-012 TV Tuner and the 150V RGB/Composite converter. All wired in, I get a picture on the screen (just!), but no audio. Having spent all weekend playing around with it, I can get sound if I plug an RCA direct from the composite converter into the amp controlling the volume from the gain on the amp(obviously losing volume control from Head Unit). I plugged my Dreamcast into the same Auxilary terminal on the brain of the 1000r and still no sound. I had sound from the Dreamcast in a previous car before I had the EQ, so no I'm sure its a qiring issue!!! Its a bit long winded but any help will be much appreciated.

Chris,

I have the CVA 1005 which is just the widescreen version of the headunit you have. I also have the TUE-012 and the only thing I could think of was that you didn't have the little converter. Your set up seems pretty similar to mine so it sounds like it is either wiring or the EQ (I don't have one). Bob fitted mine so you may want to speak to him.

Andy

Andy, I have the converter all wired in okay. I tested it by plugging an RCA direct to an amp from the converter (leaving the yellow picture wire in the brain of the 1000). I did get sound that way so I'm thinking there could be a fault on the Auxilaries on the brain of the unit.???? Also, where have you mounted the aerials on your Z??

Chris, I've got no idea how you'd test a dodgy main box. Have you tried installing the tv tuner on the second set of phonos (AUX2)?

Just reading your old post, you seem to have some kind of problem as you can't control the volume from the head unit. That is definitly not right. BUT, as Bob and I discovered (over about 15 hours), you can wire these things up in 100 different ways and only some ways work fully.

Try the Alpine web site and find the wiring diagram for that configuration you've got and double check that everything is plugged into the right "next stage".

As to the aerials, they are on the inside of the rear window. Two running horizontally along the top of the window, and two running vertically down the window. It's not the optimum but they stand out a lot less this way (they just look like rear de-misters).

Andy

Andy, cheers for the advice. Having had a fiddle with it tonight I have got a bit further. If I completely disconnect the EQ, and plug the RCA's into the brain of the 1000, then the CD Changer, Tuner and TV work, with the volume control working as well. As soon as I connect the EQ up, plug the amps and changer into it, all I get is sound from the CD Changer - no Tuner noise and no TV noise. I have tried another AI-NET lead between the Brain of the 1000 and the EQ but still the same.??? Any other ideas.

A crate of beer is on the way whoever can resolve this one!!!!!

Good luck with it Chris. The EQ is the one thing that you have that I don't have in my system (although I've got sat nav) so I can't really advise on it.

The only thing I've got left to suggest is to look at the faq on the Alpine site or to email their support department. It's well beyond me now ;-)

Good luck,

Andy

Andy, Sorry to be a pain, whats the we address for the alpine FAQ? I know they have got loads of worldwide sites, but which one is it on??

Cheers mate

Chris

No worries Chris. God only know how much help I've had from this forum over the last 18 months!

Alpine appeared to have COMPLETELY changed their site. It's all frames now but I hope these links will work for you:

http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/2001/media/datas/gb/media_techtips_systems_wiring_gb.htm

http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/2001/media/datas/gb/media_techtips_tv_tuner_connection_gb.htm

It's not the FAQ they used to have though but the first link looks like it may be usefull for you. You can get to it by going to the main page,

http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/

and selecting "Mobile Media" (the third box along) and then "Tech Tips" from the menu on the left. Shame the old faq has gone (apparently), it was bloody useful.

Good luck,

Andy

Andy, I've just spoken to Alpine technical and they tell me there is a switch underneath the brain of the 1000r unit. You have to switch it to EQ or something?? Do you know of this?? The website was handy but there were no diagrams with an EQ on there.

CheerZ for the help - I'll let you know tonight how I get on!!

Chris

A switch under the brain?? I don't remember there being one but I didn't have a good look at the unit anyway. My unit is slightly different to yours so it could be something just on your cva-1000. Let me know how you get on.

Andy

Andy, I flicked the small switch under the brain from 'norm' to 'EQ', and I got nothing - not even the CD Changer. Doh!! The other thing I had to change was all the remote turn-on leads (blue one!!). Having disconnected the amps remote turn-on lead from the 1000 brain and connecting them directly to the EQ, I got sound from everything!! WAAAHHHAAAYYY!!!!, three days of hell. My missus is happy now cause I haven't got an excuse to spend a £1000 now on a new screen!! Doh!!

CheerZ for the help
