What I'm looking for is an all in one unit that can also run a pc. Hence needing to know what it needs to have. a couple say they have VGA input but not output

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

As stated above, any touch screen will work, it will have USB and VGA/DVI Connections.

I think a Mac Mini and Touchscreen would be nice!

something real basic:

2 x single din units, one is the touchscreen monitor, the other is a pc.

Utilises both the 300zx's single din slots and gives you your carputer.

but personally, Id rather stick a mac mini in the glovebox, and get a high res, fixed screen instead of fold out.

Thanks guys. I've bought a carpc and an amp and screen etc but if possible I want an all in one thing that will just plug in to the speakers and stuff but still let me run the carpc.

Anyone know of such a system?

could be difficult for an all in one. obviously most screens have AV input, which will display the pc display, however, you cant use the touchscreen to control the carputer, unless its a screen designed for carputers.

any touch screen and any pc unit will do depending on what you want to do and where you want to mount it etc. and centrafuze is a great all in one vehicle monitoring system! have a word with vods if your unsure, i think he uses centrafuze

he already has he carputer hollandrob81, he doesnt want to use a monitor though, but a head unit, with touch screen, DVD navigation etc etc...

I think a touch screen monitor is the way forward, with an external amplifier, so the carputer audio goes straight to the amp, and out to the speakers, thus no need for a head unit.

You can obviously use a carputer as a DVD player if needed, as well as navigation.

I myself would put a solid state hard disk in the carputer, for pretty much instant loading times :D

wouldnt dare touch xtrons :s

thing is its not windows based. cant get studd like itunes on there etc...

I did dind an all in one single din unit: http://www.ecrater.co.uk/p/12621249/7-inch-one-din-motorized-touch

but again, not what I'd go for myself. Im playing around with audio ideas still at the moment. May put a mac mini in the glove box, and use a screen like this: http://www.carcomputer.co.uk/virtuemart/monitors/vga-monitors/7-inch-monitors/7-vga-double-din-in-dash-touch-screen-monitor

From personal experience I'd say avoid the lilliput screens, I've had 2 of them fail on me within 18 months. I now have a screen from a company called linitx and the quality is so much better. It has been faultless for almost 3 years now. I personally have the 8" widescreen fabricated into the double din and if you can afford it I'd recommend getting the sunlight readable jobbie as, due to the long sweeping windscreen on the zed, it is quite regularly in line of glare.

One thing I will say though is that, although these screens are seemingly the best available for this use, they are still utter pants when compared to silky smooth modern touch devices with capacitive touch screens. I barely use my touchscreen anymore though as I programmed in a 3d connexions space navigator into the area where the ashtray was originally. This acts like a BMW iDrive and stops you having to lean forward to the screen every time you want to adjust the volume or skip track etc and sits naturally under my palm when using the arm rest so is perfectly positioned.
