Do low profile tires increase stopping distances?

Playing about tonight my month old front tires seem to want to lock up everytime I brake hard. Didnt do that on the 16 inch budjets?

    The profile should not make any difference mate - the width might (in the wet maybe) and the tread pattern/compound will have an effect. But just going from stock sizes to bigger wheels with lower profiles itself should not effect brkaing distances.....
