someone I know come round in his Z today and its generally unstable at idle and sometimes doesnt run on all cylinders, but the dodgy thing is twice it has completely burned away the electrode on the plugs in the rear 2 cylinders.

Im thinking maybee to much timing advance or sticky/blocked injectors.

Any other suggestions?

Could be a bunch of things, but to start with does he have the correct plugs ?

Yeah I checked the plugs are correct and I did check ECU and got a clear 55. If I can get the time I would like to set the timing, check for vaccum leaks and set the TPS voltage and see if I can get the idle stable. He says it doesnt det but those back two cylinders are prone to running too hot and he's gonna melt a piston or burn a valve if its not sorted.

Do the O2 sensor check also.

What fuel does he use???

If he is using supermarket UL then best of luck!!!

Get him to run on OPTIMAX, after you have checked it over, and see how it goes.
