Coilover question

Absolutely gutted so hoe somebody knows better..

Bought a set of BC coilovers from Coolq in January. Apparently nearly new so paid £300 for them. Just been to have them adjusted and set properly as the wheels are catching and told that the bottom plates are ceased. They will need to be sent off, plates cut off and new ones put on.. probably costing me a couple of hundred quid.. gutted doesnt come in to it.. MOT due this week a well and car drives like a pup....

Anybody any thoughts on how I can sort them without costing a fortune? should have waited till the end of this year and bought a new set I know..

Yeah i know what your saying. but your running the risk of the tyre not touching the rim even more than mine which is dangerous. then all your running is a 245 on a zed which is pants. thats a oem set up. I bet the ride will be horrible aswell with that amount of stretch as mine was awfull

you should of gone for a 32/35 offset. why did you go so high??

The thing is the 245's that have just been fitted were freebie skid tyres that I was given, so I can't really complain that they're a bit narrower than ideal. The +45 offset wasn't by choice, this particular set of Volks came off a Soarer drift car and just so happened to nearly (but not quite) sit flush to the arch, it only sits a mm or two outside of the arch but enough that if I ran 265's they'd catch.

they fit ok, but will be switching to the other rims as soon as the weather clears up

I picked up my new rims (9j/10j) from Castle Combe yesterday and the guy threw in a few spare sets of new tyres aswell, all varying between 225/235/245 & 255. For road or grip driving it's maybe not ideal but for drifting they'll be fine

I'd say that within reason, tyre pressure is more important than contact patch size. However for now I'm going to be running 245's on the rear and that is why on 12th May at Japfest I will be mostly sideways (purely intentional)!! :tongue_smilie:
