Took the zed for mot today so it was my first go of an auto tt :)

Thought it was under powered at first until i found the sport switch .. I couldnt believe the difference :)

Question is .. What does the other functions do ? Sport , hold ??? And middle position !!

Featured Replies

Sport or power as its known in theory makes it hold onto gears longer, however in practice I never found it made a huge amount of difference, bearing in mind that it automatically goes into power mode when you give it a boot full anyway, well mine did!

The middle position is just normal, changes up and down as best as it can bearing in mind the age of the box, automatically switching to power mode if given a kicking.

Hold is slightly more interesting, its akin to a winter mode, it makes the car move off in 2nd in order to reduce the torque at the rear wheels and reduce wheel spin. However I found with mine that it really seemed to "slip" the fluid clutch with it and it didnt seem very mechanically sympathetic so I never used it.

All of those buttons come out when you convert it to a manual ;)

Ow really coz i thought it was crap until i put it in sport lol maybe just my imagination though lol ... I did notice my power light came on wen i booted it ! I also noticed whendriving sensible it didnt move up the gears as much as i would of liked ;)

Manual converstion is on my do do list :)

Perhaps still cold, the boxes are realy slow and dimwitted when they are cold.

Mine was the opposite actually, drove me mad any slight hill in the road and it was forever changing down out of overdrive into 3rd, using shit loads of petrol. Just wouldnt use the torque! When I hadit converted (this was the grey one) my god what a difference, I couldnt believe it was the same car.

For old times sake, heres the old girl as an auto

Try giving some beans to the red line but shift manually 1st , 2nd and into drive , then you,ll really see what an auto can do , first time i did it in mine years ago i nearly shat my pants . IIRC the torque converter is locked when you do this so you get full power the the wheels on the gear change and by eck you can feel it !!

Ow yes thats certaintly the way to get the most out ya auto :)

i hate how slow my auto changes gear and how often it changes,

i actually use hold and put in 2ed for all town driving, doesn't go into drive till its an open road,

the fastest i think my zed does is manual shift first 2 then drive, in power with o/d off,

still miss driving a manual though.

when mine was auto with the stage 1 blitz ecu ,it clocked out in 3rd! awesome for straight line oomph. i have nothing against auto boxes in zeds. i just missed the good old gearstick so converted her to manual. now i miss the autobox every time i'm going anywhere fully loaded with the family. guess i'm a typical brit that's never happy .!

thats exactly what i do with mine just jam it in 2nd and boot my christ doesnt it move a dirt load quicker. in full over drive normal mode is bloody annoying i hate the way it almost hits the limiter when you plant it before changing down. seems brutal! manual conversion is coming very very soon :D parts are all here.
