I know mate it is pretty poor and it should be sorted in a different manner.

No doubt someone will post back aup rules etc etc but really out of common courtesy you should have been contacted

As Gary has stated, there is no way for a MOD to be able to contact a member that is just registered (cannot PM). The rules are in place for the benefit of everyone, even if it were a MOD or committee member that had forgotten to re subscribe their thread/post would also be removed.

It is sometimes a very hard decission for a MOD to remove a thread/post, especially if it is from a long standing member who, like you as an oversight forgot to re subscribe, however if the rules are broken for one, then they would have to be broken for everyone, and the site would be chaos. Please take the time to read through the aup, you will find that the rules are fair and for the benefit of all members.

Cant this be changed so the "unregistered" member CAN receive an email to tell them why the post was removed!!! I am sure within the system you have a way of knowing that persons email addy................if not wouldnt be a bad idea to try and set this up:flowers:

If all registered members want to put there email in there profile they can (and some do) Syko has not.

True Dave, there is usually a contact email in the user cp, but the post has to be closed first before contact. So Rich would most likely have seen his thread closed first before checking email.

Unfortunately the, thinking of selling/breaking/gauging interest type threads tend to lead to people making offers/swaps etc, so as per rules registered members creating these type of threads always heads one way, regardless of whom it may be.

Its not done in a malicious way, the mods are following the rules set down in the AUP, which every member should read or be aware of.

Just Edit the thread title and posts to hide the content then leave a message underneath saying why it is closed then just close the thread

Yep could do that to but still lets people know the thread starter is selling and they might get in touch by other means. So after years of working out the best way to handle it we remove and ask people to read the rules.

ive had to ad-hear to these rules so dont think its singling any one out, i even had to do the deed my self of removing my own thread while i was still a Mod when my sub finished.

When you sign up to the site it specifically states that signing up is in agreement to abiding by the rules. might not of done it when the site was new as haven't been a member long enough to know that, now this pops up from time to time and it seems that some people think its a bit draconian. but the rule is in place to limit the number of cowboy's that would sign up, offer to sell a much wanted item for large amounts of cash and then doing a runner with just the one post which was the for sale thread, we are aware it still happens with subbed members but fewer than if the rule wasnt in place.

It would be advisable for registered members to put there email address in with there details so we can contact them but the majority of people fail to do that and its something that can not be enforced.

Please note this rule is so it doesn't single out one person over another. Mods and committee are also bound to ad-hear to the rules as any one else.

But syko was contacted in the only way possible by a MOD at this point in time, as no email address is registered, via the original thread itself. He was advised that the thread was going to be closed via the thread itself, (post by Gary), and enough time was allocated for the reading of the post, and was monitored so that Gary knew the post and reason for closing the thread had been read by syko. I can't see that anything different could have been said by email or PM really.

Good point Vods, I have been buying and selling cars for over 20 years now yet you wont find any of my cars for sale here as I am not a trader on the site, and before anyone says "but I am in Belfast" well I have sold several cars to the mainland market.

So read the rules guys its for the proction of all members and we dont pick on people we look out for them even though its a thankless task being a mod or committee member.

But Rich never got to see the thread and understand the reason it was pulled!!!!

I did not know if you could or could not email an unregistered member [unsure of the amount of information held by club and accessible by a mod] so if you are stating Rich filled out his original form correctley inc his email addy he could have been contacted??????

If this is the case cant the club ensure this is a mandortory requirment and make it compulsary when joining up?

actually i didnt see the thread cancelling my post, i was logged on and left mi lappy cos i had to go out , also seen as there is no email which i though was on my profile has to be a plus point as noone can contact me privately to make me offers ffs!!

when did the fun go out of all this and become a business, and i was asking for advice not a full run down of spec list which if i was gonna sell my my stuff it would be in the for sale section, even i know that rule :(

and im no fly by night seller as i love my zed and would break my heart to sell it, or break it and have been around and sold stuff over the years without trying to rip anyone off

makes this community spirit lean me towards getting rid of zed even more as it wasnt just about owning the car it was also about the guys on the community

ill pay me dues just to keep me able to ask question for this year!!

but was a genuine oversight missing this payement, oh and as for mods not being able to contact me, my posts are copied to my email address so somebody has my emaill in the mod depth!!!!

rant over
