Hi have developed an oil leak that has been getting steadily worse, mate had a quick look today and says he feels it's the rear crankshaft oil seal? is this a big job to get fixed ? is it an engine out job?more importantantly is it expensive ?i will have to pay to get it fixed as thick when it comes to cars. Also car has a flat spot when you blip the throttle?calipers sticking and rust is coming back on the sills.Starting to lose interest in the old girl.

Not really a big job, case of dropping the exhaust, prop shaft etc. then removing the gearbox, clutch, flywheel, pulling out the old seal and popping the new one in (sounds easy when you put it like that!) The oil seal is about 15 quid, but the job is kinda labour intensive if you don't know zeds I suppose... Maybe 4 hours labour ish, I could do it in that on my drive, but I've got removing the gearbox down to a fine art now...

Edit : If it's a manual, you'll want to replace the spiggot bushing too, only about a fiver, not sure if you need to, but I always do...

I've got a slight leak there at the moment mate, decided to leave it until I need a clutch and do it then to join up the labour
