Recently bought a new CTS For ECU from nissan and went to fit it at the weekend. On removing the old one it looks different from the new one nissan has supplied!. The shape and depth of the sensor is quite different. Is this the wrong one thay have supplied or has the manufacturer changed the design?. I would be grateful for any views please guys before I install!.

I have only ever seen one type of coolant temp sensor from Nissan altho i aint really seen that many - new ones especially.

However make sure it is the correct one

A) you were given

b) you are looking at

The Coolant Temp sensor is the yellow one on the front coolant pipes. the Black one is for the engine Guage - chances are if the yellow one has failed you should get a saftey condition from the ECU altho you will not get any warnings. If the Black one fails you will get either 0 or strange readings from the Temp guage in the Cockpit.

Hope that helps

Yeah you wont get error codes but it shold limit the boost and retard the timing if the coolant gets too hot.

Thanks Guys

The connections on the existing sensor are quite bad, this was my reason to change it. The only thing I can think is that nissan have changed the design a bit as the chap at the garage assures me it is the correct sensor. I don't know if any one else compared their sensors when they changed and found the same thing?. It does screw in correctly but the part of the sensor that goes into the chamber is longer and slimmer than the original. I suppose I will just have to install and see what happens!!!!!

Seez ya
