that's crap fella !!!!! Feel bad for you as I have seen the amount of time and effort you have put in. I am sure you will get it sorted and you will soon be grinning from ear to ear when you get the Ts off.

That sucks mate. Probably teaching you to suck eggs, but did you prime the tubs with oil before starting the engine?

yep oil primed when fitted then fresh oil/filter then sat cranking it over for a 2>3 mins ... its done about 5 miles in total had it on the back rd a few times setting up boost controller

set at 14psi Max

it when Pop then rattly now its smoking like a gooden on the Drivers side

dont think its an Oil problem

Thought you would have, but had to ask :)

Don't know what would have caused it. Gutted for you mate.

whats making even more peed off is the turbo just given up on the mondeo last week and that car is off the rd

and my van is out of Tax

so now i'm left with no transport

id have the oil return pipe off to confirm there is oil getting through i had this happen on passenger side one before with a blockage in the feed pipe.

Thats a shitter mate :(

I would push it off a cliff and teach the bitch a lesson

thats what i feel like doing ...

if patrol wasnt so expensive and shortage i would be making a nice BBQ with it

Nope i know that for sure .. its a Direct flowing route plus there all Braided lines kinda hard to Kink

i will be taking photos when i take it out of the car anyways

Garret GT2560-R's ... put it this way best part of 2k for them ...

i'd definately be pushing for manufacturer fault, being as they are new.probably get nowhere but its worth a try mate.i won't even suggest what could have caused it cos you seem to know your stuff.

  • Author

yeah no probs mate more ideas the better ..

i did tripple check everything before even the engine went back in to car

the oil lines are proper ones for the turbos and engine combo

kinda feel better now got over my strop

just i need to find the time to do it

oh yes i will be insisting its a Manufacture problem

i got to know the guy who sold me them quite well

i'm sure his ears are ringing right now cuz i be cussing him all ready .. lol

Id do a compression test first, you ran 14 psi with an old engine and a set of basically t28 tubs ? That sounds like a recipie for disaster mate.Bet youve blown a piston in fact id almost say its 99.9% gone bang.

not a piston all ready checked had plugs out and Light Prob down there ... not done comp test

100% its defo a turbo as it rattles when it spools up and Lack of boost ..

plus i was running 16psi before with old turbos anyways

and the engine runs and rev's fine till u boost it

Don't strip the turbo down after you've removed it, I'm sure something similar happened to somebody either on here or on Driftworks, it was regarding a brand new crank rather than a turbo, which was fitted during an engine rebuild. The crank was bent however the company (in the US) initially wouldn't budge as it had been fitted etc

In the end the guy got them to agree to send a replacement crank free of charge and everything worked out ok. At the end of the day if your capable of fitting one turbo properly then there's no reason that you would have fitted the other incorrectly, therefore component failure and a replacement part is due as far as I'm concerned.

Also didn't Jeff post a thread a few months back where he'd fitted a brand new component bought from the manufacturer which turned out to be faulty (water pump I think??), well same principal here as far as I can see. You should get a new part.

just to make things a little clear this is not the first car i have rebuilt or engines ... would say its about my 10th or so ..

never had a problem with bearings or turbos

if it was an oil problem then the other turbo should of gone too

engine has been inspected ( by me ) and was rebuilt before i had it

i'm 100% sure its down to Manufacture Problem

but before i had the turbos the Comp i got them from did an Upgraded oil Seal on them

i for a Feeling that the Compressor wheel has come adrift

but we will see

That's what I'm thinking too, it's time to get on the phone mate.

Once you send the turbo back, the tests they do can determine fault of failure and generally will ask what pressure Oil was coming out of the block prior to oil feeds and with ball bearing jobbies what size reducers were in the oil feeds and in the case of water cooled turbo's confirming that water feeds were fitted.

Be honest cos their tests will show whats what!

Just so you can be prepared for what maybe asked mate.

oil pressure

Cold was around 100/110

hot idle 30ish

as the time of fail was doing around 40mph Normal oil pressure and still is now it was one of the things i was watching anyways

the oil feed's and restricters are the ones for them turbos

i will be sending the oil lines back with the turbos

inc the oil return pipes

and yes water feeds are fitted ...

All Oil feed/return pipes are New

all water pipes have been replace with silicone type

but thanks for the heads up
