I`m looking for a good mountain bike, anyone got one for sale or good recommends

Hi Guys, I`m wanting to upgrade my mountain bike, its a Gary fisher Marlin hard tail, its a fantastic bike but just fancy a change, been looking at, specialized, Orange, GT and a nice Corratec has caught my eye, I prefer another hard tail with decent forks, but wont say no to a full lock out suspension set up, SO....... Has anyone got one for sale, fancy a part ex on my Gaz fisher or can you recommend a good bike for me

Is there many mountains where you live??

LOL, No, just a few big hills :)

assuming you are employed have you looked into this: http://www.bike2workscheme.co.uk/

we have quite a few people at work that have signed up to this - works out almost 1/2 price for a bike - the rest is spread out over interest free payments over a year direct from your pay

is a really good idea & easy for employers to set up :)

Agreed, we did have a cycle to work scheme at work, but alas due to the cuts we have one no more which is a shame as I was looking to treat myself to a nice new road bike this year.

I'm with you daz re the suspension bikes, I too prefer a good hardtail with some nice forks, I just feel that you get better feedback.

I keep looking at loads of lush new mountain bikes and flat bar cyclocross bikes but every time I jump on my old school GT Zaskar I am always reminded of how great a bike it is, and there's no need to replace it. I use a Marin hybrid to hack to work and back, which is awesome, super smooth and more than sturdy enough to cope with the crappy roads, cycle paths and tow paths.... so really i think it's time to invest in a decent road bike as I am fully getting back into my cycling, and need something a bit more feisty when trying to pump out the miles.

Couple of decent websites who do the cycle schemes and offer interest free options on or off the scheme:

http://www.tredz.co.uk

http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk

http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk

But there are loads of places... some really nice bikes on ebay at the moment.

I bought a Cube Acid a few months back. Great bike, I'm very happy with it.

I found out about the bike2work scheme about 2 days after I bought the bike. Doh!

What you using it for daz? Suspension is shit for roads

Just keeping fit really, I will probably take it to the Lakes and have a blast around up there, prefer hard tail but deffo need lock out suspension as most of it will be road use ;)

get yourself a bike which is set up for single track/cross country very light rigid no suspension. will be quick fun to ride and good on the roads aswel as off road on the footpaths etc. you wont need anything amazing as your not gonna be throwing it about. gt do make some nice bikes but you will pay more than you need to for what you wnat because it has that written on it. i used to ride bmx so i know a fair bit about bike contruction and all the rest just not too much about the current mtb brands etc... why not add some parts to your current bike rather than buy a new one? you do it with your car to make it better :)

Yeh, thats what I`m after a very light, strong bike, but me being me wants disc brakes and fancy stuff ;) I`m bored of my current bike now and if I get something a bit special, I will ride it more, I too were a massive BMX`er

;D had some cracking bikes, my fave was my Haro freestlyler, god I loved that bike, had a Mongoose and a Torker, ahhhh memories of bruised coccyx and wrists ,lol

lol yeah i dropped it afew years back now, i have a fully built bike sat in my garage. full handbuilt amercian 4130 fbm frame and all sorts of parts its indestructible i know ive tried many many times and its always come back to bite, cost afortun to import and build. but its been about disassembled and flown across europe and thrown across most of the uk lol. id never part with it toooooo many memories.

Same as mine, being an import that is!

It's purely a downhill mtb with full suspension.

It was imported from Canada for Jack Reading who is sponsored by Ellsworth and is a UK downhill champion.

I bought the frame off him last year for a tidy sum and slowly have been building it backup to near race spec.

To import my frame compete from Ellesworth in Canada costs just over $2500 for the basic setup so i consider

myself very lucky to get it and it's more like a trophy as it sits in my living room gleaming with new parts!

It's seen some serious dirt in the competitions Jack put it through but it's like new condition.

Wow!! some awesome bikes on there, cheerz fella,

the only thing missing from that website is the weight of the bikes, unless I`m blind?

Not a mountain bike i know, but i just treated myself to a new road bike. Pretty entry level really but I have a half decent hybrid for commuting and my trusty old Zaskar for hacking around the countryside.

On an aside for all you outdoorsy types here is an awesome website i found for clothing and bits and bobs... I just placed an order for some cloths, so we'll see how good the delivery and service is.
