You might have just struck it rich if wikipedia is to be believed :smartass: ....................6 figures!

By the 1930s he was considered one of the greatest living marine artists, whose patrons included two American Presidents, Dwight D Eisenhower and Lyndon B Johnson, as well as the British Royal Family. Also in the 1930s, he moved to Milford-Upon-Sea in Hampshire, living there for many years. Dawson is noted for the strict accuracy in the nautical detail of his paintings which often sell for six figures. The work of Montague Dawson is represented in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich and the Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth.

Hi Buddy , sorry I missed your reply.... yes please if you don't mind,I`m still looking for a price :) many thanks

Got just a little experiance on this lol go to bonhams they have free valuation sessions if they can't price it there and then they will send it to knightsbridge london for denby easton to have a look at will take 6-8 weeks and they are cheapest on commision but you might have to wait for the next relevant auction but don't get your hopes up as the victorians were master fakers but saying that it looks ok at face value

fingers crossed for you. I recently found a load of pictures that my Grandad took in the 2nd world war. Some are a bit dodgy with dead people in. I am thinking about seeing if there worth anything as I can always scan them if I decided to sell them.
