Does anyone know if the above different from UK/JAP and Turbo/Non-turbo ? Mine are leaking sillicon and I am weighing up the pros and cons of replacing with new or secondhand. Cheers, as always.

Dont replace with secondhand stuff.

Go for Polly bushes. They cost about £60 for the pair and last a lot longe than the Nissan ones which I think is £80 for 1.

Also there is an improvment in the reaction of the steering.

Hi Phil,

I've recently replaced mine with the Energy Suspension polyurethane bushes that Luke sells (Z Centre). Can definitely recommend you go for the new ones as (1) they are solid rather than graphite filled, i.e., they won't leak (2) they're not expensive (paid £62 for the pair incl postage) which is a hell of a lot less than buying them from Nelson who will only sell you the entire arm (3) once fitted they tightened up my front end considerably.

As for the difference between UK and Jap spec cars - no difference mate. Not too sure about the TT vs NA versions but can't imagine they're different. You may want to give JeffTT a shout at ZedWorld as I know he's fitted loads in the past few weeks.

Hope this helps mate.

Stuart - does this mean that the whole tension rods do not need replacing, just the bushes? I got a quote of £229 plus fitting which must mean they want to replace the whole thing....

Danny - Thanks for the info, but Jeff and I are not talking at the mo. I won't go into details as a lady reveals nothing... ;-)

You can just knock out the old bushes and replace them with new poliurathian, (polly wink.gif) ones.

It does mean taking off the arm putting the bush in then putting it back on.

It needs to be done on mine, but I am having trouble finding somewhere that has them in stock.

Stuart

Polyeurethane (poly wink.gif) unless you have a parrot? hehe

Its not usuall quite as easy as 'popping' the new bush in.

But anyways, you should notice a shaper steering response, you may also notice a little more noise like a creak, this is normal, some of the noise can be removed by 'regreasing' the outers of the bushes. You may not get any noise at all, but I certainly have heard it on some cars.

But even so, well worth the difference, especially if yours are leaking, even replacing yours with standard items will improve the steering feel no end, and then from going straight from leaky ones to poly, should be quite a treat in the steering dept. biggrin.gif

regards

I'm waiting for some of these at the mo'. A bloke I know reckons he got some rose jointed ones from SE...reckons they're the best thing ever.

Anyone heard of this before...?

cheers,

RobH

Rob I got rose jointed tension rods from SE,and they ARE the bollocks wink.gif.

Ironically enough, that is where the one's I am talking about are from. It does seem a tad expensive, but they do say that by the time you've inserted the news bushes into the rods, you've covered the cost of new ones (due to the labour involved). I don't want to start an argument about Se, bec. I am not mechincailly inclined anough to do the job myself. Therefore, I am willing to get a pro to do the job and happy to pay for it. I was just getting some info first. Ta.

Phil,

The bushes are quite easy to change (thanks to instuctions from (SRAEE(I think)). If you need a hand and want to travel to N. London, then let me know. I'm sure Kris from the forum (I think it was him) mentioned that he might be making up some of the rose jointed tension rods, so it might be worth hanging on if you want them.

I changed mine for poly bushes, and didn't find too much difference (mine weren't shot, just wanted to sharpen it up).

After that went for the SE rose jointed ones and they are MUCH better. Also give adjustable castor, so in theory you should be able to adjust the load on your steering a bit.

I did have a set of Poly Energy Suspenders bushes but sold them to the Mat Lad for 25 squids last week.

I've just had the SE Rose Jointed Adjustable jobbies fitted aswell, pukka! wink.gif

Poly bushes are pretty good..though do creak a little under braking. Best to grease em up when having fitted. Gotta do mine.

In all it saves been robbed by the tossers at Nissan...

Just ordered mine too!

You get a tube of lubricant with the Energy Suspension bushes, make sure you mention it to whoever is fitting them for you! wink.gif
