Arnt these being outlawed in the now mot rules?

I'm sure if they wernt on the car from manufacture and don't have a lense wash on the headlights they will be ilegal from april of this years :(

My pulsar has them on and its gutting me that I will have to remove them and go back to the 20 year old dull driving lights!

No not so i was speaking to the ministry the other day while we was having an MOT inspection and he told me that the new laws will only apply to new cars or cars registered after april 2012. All cars pre april 2012 are fine but if they have head light washers fitted they need to be working

You've just made my Day :D I didn't think it could get any better today :D good stuff! Thankyou for clearing that up :D

Even if they did have a moan, only a few minutes to pop normal bulbs back in... Are you asking about a pulsar or a zed? Zeds are H3, dunno about pulsars matey...

Yup - H3c is just the halogen bulb that J-spec cars require; the actual base shape is the same as H3 so you need an H3 HID kit.....

......and in a 300zx you should still be fine at MOT time. Our dipped beam is a projector unit (as opposed to the more common reflector unit like the full beam) and HID conversions tend to suit projector units. I had my ZX MOTd last Saturday and the garage made no reference to the HIDs...... and my head lamp washers do not work!!!

They would have noticed I had HIDs too - the initial switch-on would have given it away!

Thanks lads, mot isnt a problem anyway my mate does them lol. But I might need a doc to say hids before 2012 dont need leveling and washers just in case that debate conrs up over a pint lol.

Can anyone suggest a kit they have experience of and are happy with them.

Give this company a try mate....

There may be others cheaper on Fleabay, but these guys are in Manchester so returns (if you have an issue) aren't a problem. I had a dodgy ballast unit and they sent me a replacement next day with no messing around....

I (and many others) have kits from here: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/

Our old trader Danny from DTA used these & they are top notch - more expensive than other brands but you wont find better! :)

Thanks Paul got a H3 kit ordered. 6K bulbs so we'll see what they are like in a few days. thanks for you help everyone.

Chris.

I got my kit of ebay £30 it was easy to fit cable tied ballasts to loom etheir side it was a 6000k kit branded VIP HID best £30 ever spent its a nice daylight white light not too blue .Its actually easier to fit to a jap car as the red and black spade conectors in the kit push into the red and black original nissan plugwhich orginaly went to bulb no need to mess around with earth unlike on the uk car.The hid bulbs are a bit longer than the standard bulbs becarefull not do damage the when fitting .

Dont think the info you were given was quite right, infact it was utter bull, it's the new MOT inspection criteria that comes into force sometime April 2012, it's nothing to do with the year of registration of the cars. HID's have never been legal to retro fit but they were never an MOT failure point. They still wont be, but the ancillary systems around them will be (from April). The big problem is going to be the old bill, they do not work to MOT standards but construction & use, they can take action if the lights don't comply, which unless you have forked out a couple of grand on 99 specs they won't.
