Hi guys I'm new here.My name is Alex and I'm from Italy.Came here to do some search on VG30DETT engine, if everything will be ok I will swap this to my s13 body. If I'm not mistaken the VG engine is easyer than the RB26 and it costs less money so it is the perfect way to go for cheap power and v6 is better than the str8 6.The only thing left to do is to learn where its weak points are...I hope you guys will give me a hand with this, thanks and by the way sorry for the mistakes that I made when I was writing, I 'm trying to do my best.

Welcome to the club Alex, are you really going to buy an engine here and bring it to Italy?

It depends how much I should pay for shipping and the price of the engine...Here we have a lot of M3 BMW e92 that are under construction for drifting and it is so hard to stay behind them on tehnical tracks...so I was thinking that a nice VG with compressor would be a nice mod...lots of torque enough HP, just have to find a way to make it work. If the compressor isn't a good idea, was thinking of 2 small turbo's a litle bigger than T25 mybe T28 or something like that...

Ciao Alex

Weak point on the engine is the coolant passages to the rear cylinders which cause it to fail and turbo seals failing. There is places that can get the rear passages bored out though to cure this and just use uprated turbos. I believe this is all right but the other engine builders may be along too we have a few good ones on here

Marty

another on the con list when its in the zed most big jobs are a engine out..dunno how it be in a sx though

on the pro though the sound of a v6 is f00kn awsome

it wil have a PS13 front...

will the vg fit? like pyshically? the s13 is quite a bit smalled than the z32 and the vg is tight in the zed because of the location of the turbos in relation to the strut towers? maybe the engin eout of the s14 would be better im led to believe it has a stronger bottom end. and you should be able to squeeze plently of lightweight power out of it. the vg is quite complex and as said its tight so most big job are engine out. what about a vh45? as a naturally aspirated engine?

Welcome to the club Alex - that sounds an awesome project!!!

As for squeezing a VG30 into an S13, I salute you sir. Although (whilst I hate to say it as I love the V6) an Rb26 would probably fit better and, being a straight 6, be easier to tune. The VG30 needs 2 of everything, so getting big BHP from it can get very expensive.....

But good luck with what ever you decide to do my friend!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I wish I had the money for the vh45...

I know it will be very tight but when I'm thinkin' about all that torque....:tt1: I know that RB sounds better but the VG gives much more power on low rpm's to get the same amout on a RB you must heve 2000 rpm more...The only thing I hope is to have enough money...:whistling:

Bough new tires, now have to buy a new engine to make them smoke....Potenza re050 255/45/17

  • 2 weeks later...

if its high tourque you are after then a v8 would be a good starting point, plenty oflight weight all alloy v8's out there ....lexus, ford, merc, audi, GM and they take really well to supercharging with teh suporting mods.....
