Sounds very weird. Check the CAS connector. This is where the rev reading is taken from. However if this wasn't right then surely the engine would cut out???

i had some weird probs yesterday mate,i turned up the the air idle adjust just to try and sort out my hesitation at idle(turn it up) and for some reason the car started running very lumpy ,i felt the back pipes on the zorst and one side was ok but the other was very low pressure.after being totally confused i went round all the electrical connections giving them a check and when i started the car it was ok with the hicas light out and rev counter working ok.

guess i have a loose connection somewhere?

i checked the connection to the spark plug(back right hand side)

the connector on the side of the engine at the front corner and the 2 connectors at the back above the air idle adjust

and rechecked the ptu id just installed

not sure where the cas is ,is it the connector on the front right hand side of the engine?

cheers jay

Yup - CAS is on the opposite side of the Vee to the PTU m8 - round silver thing if we get real simple wink.gif Can be a bit of a pig to get the connector off but worth a check IMO...

How do you mean by hesitation at idle??? Simply winding the revs up aint gonna solve it wink.gif The base idle setting should leave the engine running but only just - the ecu corrects this to the required revs using the idle valve... IMO there is nothing in the idle circuit that will cause hesitation at those revs - it is a different problem wink.gif

Thats almost certainly the speed sensor on the gearbox failing matey. Not having much luck at the moment are you?
