The wheels on my manual twin turbo I bought a few weeks back are aftermarket. They are 17" rims fitted with 225 45 17's. On close inspection of the rims I found them to be 7j which means that the tyre size is already the maximum I can get on them. I have arranged to have a set of goodyear f1 225 45's fitted next Saturday for £490. I am worried that these tyres are not big enough and I would be better off waiting and getting wider rims, could anyone tell me what the stock wheel size is for a tt, any other advice would be appreciated.

jap spec is 225/50r16 all round, uk spec is 225/50r16 front 255/50r16 rear. hope that helps bud.

Do you particularly like your existing alloys? If not why not have a look around and see what wheels you can get your hands on as £490 is a lot of dosh and would probably get you a decent set of 2nds from somewhere? I always think that the zed sits just right on 18s or 19s to be honest.

yeah, I know what you mean, a set of 18's would be good, second hand is not such a bad option

Those wheels are narrower than stock. J-spec are 7.5" all round and UK spec is 8.5" rears.

A typical aftermarket size for the Z is 18x8.5" front and 18x9.5" rear.

The alloys you have would be meant for some sort small hothatch instead.

thats what I was kind of thinking, anyway my mind is made up now, they have to go and be replaced with some 19's. Thanks for confirming what I was thinking
