I've seen this before on imports, it could be a VPC (Vein Pressure Convertor) and / or a PFC (Power Fuel Computer)

Basically the VPC allows you to change from a Mass Air Flow sensor to a pressure sensor in the manifold (I think). Usually done on race cars, not common on road cars as you get poor low end driveability.

The Power Fuel Computer I think interfaces with the stock ECU and does some funky things like raise the rev limiter, change fuelling..

Pretty old stuff these days. If it works don't worry about it, if the car drives a bit rough or is detonating then hiff the lot and put a Stage 3 chip in the stock ECU. Keeps things nice n simple and they work!

Thanks for the reply, i forgot to mention the car is a genuine UK model and the two boxes in question are labeled VPC & EVC units.

Tim,

The EVC (Electronic Valve Controller) controls the turbos actuators to vary the boost level.

This has probably been set to 1bar boost pressure.

Be careful not to adjust it beyond the engine capabilities (1bar by the sound of things) or it could prove expensive.
