I want my interior light to come on when I unlock it so I can find it in the dark. It seems it's a novelty that's taken for granted by most people with modern cars. I wanna bring my Zed up to date with a few little trick bits like that.

 

Does anyone know of some kind of aftermarket kit that will do that? Or maybe even one to bring the sidelights on...

How about unlock it and then open the door, the light will then come on :tongue_smilie:

 

I have wired my side lights and stereo to stay on with the engine for as long as the turbo timer is set for :cool3:

 

Something clever what my merc as done recently, the front winker bulb is out and of course I get fast flash on that side but the clever Germans have done it where the front driving/fog lamp flashes as a substitute indication, and lets me know of course that it as done that on the drivers display on the dash :wink:

set the interior light to the middle position, it should then as Phutumsch said, turn on when you open the door.

i think he means when you use your fob to unlock the car the lights come on and when you lock it the go off

never see the point in that, no matter how dark its been ive always managed to find the door handle to open the door to turn the interior light on when getting in lol

it gives a nice warm welcome feeling when they come on slowly. Its a bit like when a women pulls here thong to one side :lol:

You got it Car.Mad. I live in the country side. No street lights, no neighbours lights and I can't park it close enough for my house lights to show me where I'm walking at night. I'm currently locking and unlocking it about 4 times to find my way in the dark.

torch? not trying to sound mean here, but you can get LED torches from tescos that clip on to your keys that are small enough to not get in the way.

great bit of advise... i've now got the mental image of a remotely operated thong in my head:wacko::lol:

 

 

in theory i guess you could, make it come on as the zeds unlocked, but you'd probably have to take the feed from your alarm somewhere, i.e. when alarm is off light is on and vis verse, don't know if you could rewire on of the door sensors (or boot even) to do this , but it sounds like more trouble then its worth personally,

The series 4 has this as standard i believe, controlled by the TCU ( time control unit) i know Paul (300zedx) has the feature, his ign ring lights too.

Jut gone outside now to get something from the car. when i unlocked it with the fob the interiour lights came on and went off when i locked it :dance:

mine comes on with the fob too, then fades out after you lock it

must be a north wales mod. the cars must know we have no street lights so they help us out :lol:

My zed is a series 1 and my ignition ring lights up red.ive got a cobra alarm fitted and when I press the button on the fob to disarm the alarm it unlocks the doors and puts the interior light on at the same time.

God damn! It's sounding more and more like a standard feature that mine doesn't have! :-/

I think it would be more likely something to do with the alarm system, most use the interior light as a sensor point, so when the door gets opened the alarm sounds as the interior light comes on. may be how they have modified it in, ive had 5 zeds and not one had this feature. so im thinking its alarm specific.

I got a cobra alarm too. I know out of the RX and TX outputs only one of them is used. Am I right in thinking I could tap the other into the interior light to make the magic happen?
