Hi All,

I've search the site and look through FAQs and model history etc but can't see anything about LWB and SWB models, however when looking at the cars for sales I notice that some people list their car as LWB and some as SWB.

Whats the deal? whats the different in length? When was each made? Which is regarded as best in terms of handling? Anything else you think I should know!?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Check out the FAQs mate, there is some really useful stuff in there.

SWB tend to command more money that LWB as there are a bit rarer. If you do a quick search you will see that this subject has been discussed many times before.

I like the LWB, I like the way it sits, and it lends itself to the whole GT cruiser type thing that I feel the Zed is.

Welcome to the site by the way, and feel fre to ask as many newbie questions as you like.... (just to make you feel a bit better, I think that my 1st or 2nd post was also about the whole LWB vs SWB thing)

enjoy.

here we go....lol

In brief

LWB - long wheel base - 4 seats

SWB - short wheel base - 2 seats - better in every way imaginable

No excuse me whilst i run for cover

D'oh, I should have read your post properly... Check out this FAQ thread for model comparisons

What you thinking of going for? what's your budget? Etc? Etc?

There are some very solid cars on here for sale at the moment from some very loving owners.

I have the LWB and I'm very happy with it.... would have gladly bought a SWB if one was available when I was looking....

My understanding is that some parts are a bit harder to come by for the SWB... and so just like the car can command more money....

I ve got two LWB and one SWB each great cars .. if you dont need 4 seats go for the SWB having driven both the SWB does handle better (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION) ....lol ...all will depend on your driving style and what you want from your car....ie SWB slicktop with a TT lump and manual box scary fun monster..... LWB na auto family fun cruiser and everything inbetween

here we go....lol

Matter of opinion, but as i have 2 kids to shuttle about, i find the 2+2 a lot better in every way imaginable compared to the swb.

Ooh and SWB is just 8" shorter than a LWB with out the added extra room the 2 seats in the back supply :P

Or in other news,

LWB better for a stonking boot build (AKA Jason farrows THE BEAST, AKA Artztogos Blue rocket)

Personally im not actually too keen on the SWB as i think it looks squashed,

I like the LWB. When you are going somewhere but not to far in the sun you have somewhere to stash you T-tops rather than spend ages putting them away nicely in the boot

red one is the short one duh!!!:lol:

I also prefer the looks of the LWB. looks in proportion

I bought my Z for performance and the SWB being a little lighter I thought went for that. If a slicktop SWB had been available at the time within my budget I would have gone for that. As said before Twin Turbo MANUAL is the way to go unless you just want a cruiser.

SWB everytime the two back seat are useless unless you are 4ft or a child anyway. Plus i'm pretty sure my boot is larger than WelshZ's LWB boot the last time I looked

Welcome to the forum Matt! I've only ever had LWBs, but would consider looking for a long term SWB as it would fit easier in the garage lol.

Where abouts in Lincs are you from?

Why make do with a swb when you can have the much more desirable lwb a real mans car lol stir the pot lol ha ha ha.

why have a car for 2 people to enjoy when u can have a car for 4 people to enjoy .. it makes much more sense :) .. lol

Because the two seater ones are so much better mate

if that was the case, nissan would of made more of them :P the LWB is better hand down, and yes you can fit 4 adults in it, just make sure the shorter women go in the rear seats.

Sorry mate I got it wrong, I thought they made more four seaters as there were lots of people who needed the extra seats and had to 'make do'

Being serious though I think the lines of the LWB along the rear quarter and tailgate are better, it looks way better with a smoothed tailgate and alot more spoilers suit it

doesnt really matter if its a LWB or SWB ..

you buy to what you need ...

if its just you & partner .. then SWB prob suit you better

if u have kids LWB it is then ... on a plus side it is a better car ...

I could argue the point of buying a high performance sports car and then filling it with shit loads of MDF and speakers ....but instead I'll point out that the SWB has a much deeper boot, more suitable for ICE installs ;)

I think they did, nearly double the amount of SWB's to LWB's in the U.S (by far the biggest sales market for the Z). The 2+2 was more popular in Japan though and the only version made available in Europe, which makes the swb a rarer sight on our shores.
