as above. I have had the dreaded notice through. Normally in the past I have just held my hands up and thought yep thats fair enough no point arguing but this time I knew the van was there. The sneaky buggers- hide the otherside of a bridge which has two lanes into one into a 30..which also no longer runs past a school as it used to as the brdige was moved several years ago.... I digress. I know I was watching the speed long beofre I came over the bridge and the car in front was going slowly enough as well and oncoming traffic was warning everyone on my side. So this time I am sowmehat adamant i was not dong 41 in a 30! I fear it may just be easier to go fair enough, cough the £60 and take the 3 points than to argue it....being cynical I suspect they rely on this!

ask them for photographic evedence and the last calibration report for the speed detector, and let it run to the court procedure

ask them for photographic evedence and the last calibration report for the speed detector, and let it run to the court procedure

always best askin in court and then theres no time for them to produce a cok and bull report

ive contested a few, even my mothers. They got the reg number wrong on the letter so was the wrong car..

Anyway as mentioned ask for the evidence. If its a video you may have to go to them to view it..

The evidence may be right against you.. Then you were speeding and take the hit.

If the picture doesnt clearly show its your car and you driving then contest it.

If its a video, look for other vehicles which may have skewed the results...

Send me a pm if you want to have a natter about it..

These cameras - or operators get it wrong sometimes. I got a letter 4 weeks ago to say my car (blue a civic) was caught on camera in Chiswick on 6th Jan and as it is currently sorn'd I was in deep doo doo also etc. "We have photographic evidence etc...."

My civic has been sorned for 5 months in my garage 400 miles from Chiswick. I phoned them up and they told me they had a photo etc. I asked the advisor if they had it on their PC screen, they said yes, asked if it was a blue 3 door civic in the photo and guess what?.... it was not a civic!! They had the reg plate one digit out because the image was obstructed!

I then wrote a letter, running over the pouints of the phone call, name of advisors etc and they sent an apology a couple of weeks later!

hopefully there's no officers on the site as you've admitted it already! cards and chest come to mind mate! just reread it ........contest it i say always.

I would ask yourself this, how confident are you that you were travelling within the stated speed limit?

If the answer is 90% or more then consider an appeal,

after all, we are supposed to be living in a society of freedom of speech and that the legal system is there to protect the Innocent as well as prosecute the wrong doers.

I do not know the correct way to go about this, but I am sure there must be people you can contact for impartial advise.

Maybe there are contact details within the correspondence they sent out when issuing the fine and penalty.

I hope you successfully contest it. Good luck.

Dont ask for evidence they dont have to give it to you as they only have to give it if its going to court

ask for photos to help with who was driving at the time

Tell them that the car is driven by yourself and your partner and that you wish to see a photo of the driver as you are unsure who was driving at the time. If they provide you with a photo and it is clearly you driving then you can do one of two things. Hold your hands up and take the points or lets say my friend recently had a speeding ticket and at the time his licence was being sent off the be renewed.so he rang the ticket office and told them and he was told they would put a note on the system and he was to call back once his licence was returned. This was 18months ago and no points as of yet. If you can not see who was driving then its down to the police to prove you was the driver. They well probably send you a letter saying as your the regeisted keeper your resposabile and have to take the points. Send them a letter back saying thats fine but you want a letter from the police confirming that they are allowing you to commite purgary? (i think thats right). You will shortly get a letter sying we have no further interset in this case.

Hope that 1 makes sense and 2 helps

sorry about the spelling but im very tied

'If you can not see who was driving then its down to the police to prove you was the driver'

Not the case anymore, the Police don't have to prove anything....and you'll only end up with 6 points and a hefty fine going down that route

just ask my wife....

Go to court and you may get more points or a bigger fine.

I got one a few months ago and was able to do one of those speeding courses which was good. Just got another NIP through and coughed. I did the crime, I'll take the points on the chin although it sucks. Might be different if I was on 9 points already....

thats the UK law but its against your european law.. infringement on your human rights to persecute you.. its why all these Guys get off with nicking cars....

As this chap lives in Wales. The capital of speed cameras / speed rozzers. i can imagine he knows his onions ref speeding tickets LOL

They may give you a £60 fine and offer you a speed awareness course, rather than points......thats happened to a few people I know :)

Ive contested twice and won both times, was even awarded £250 out of central funds for my trouble,

BUT i also went not guilty once because had been pulled and given a producer for driving with my front fogs on, next thing i know im being done for speeding!! I thought maybe the coppers have forgot/lost reason for why they had stopped me and was a genuine error. The lying B*****ds stood in court and said they had clocked me on vascar doing steady 98mph, when my solicitor asked for the video evidence they said they didint have it switched on so when asked how they could prove that they were tailing me or even behind me they both said "because we were" and that was enough for the country bumpkin magistrate at Kendal to give me 6 points and a £900 fine!!!

I was only 27 at the time and driving a Lotus Carlton so how could i have possibly been telling the truth

Try this site http://www.pepipoo.com/ its the best around, I personally used what is called the "Hamilton Defence" in a case and the CPS folded the day before the court date. I had prevously had my mothers case thrown out before the European Court closed what was then a possible loophole.
