i need some tech advice,

just drove about 2 mile then the car just died on me!waited abit then it started and stopped withtin a hundred yards,left it about 15 mins ,put a wet towel around the ptu(to cool it)the car got me home(2 miles)and then died again

IS IT THE PTU?

ANYONE NO WHERE I CAN GET 1 FROM?(TRIED NISSAN 270+VAT)

IF ITS NOT THE PTU,ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?

DEFINATE GROUP BUY .HOW MANY ARE UP FOR IT?

Can I just add something here, Nissan were supplied Power Transistor Units by Hitachi and Mitsibushi throughout the production of the Z32.

 

I had a so called PTU with the fault fitted on my car 2 years ago and it's been fine.

 

What more than likely kills them in the end is 1) heat soak and 2) being mounted in the worst place possible! Front of the engine!

 

Get a new PTU whether it be from the UK or Courtesy...but Courtesy is the better option as you are also getting TT.net discount as they are supposed to retail in the U.S. for $308 and then relocate it somewhere away from the lump say the inner wing where it will escape vibration and excessive heat soak!

 

P.S. I had mine replaced when there was nowt wrong with my original, it hadn't failed that I was aware of and I should have got the old one back off Middlehurst! Would have had a spare...muppet! LOL
