Check the connections to the CAS and PTU. CAS is the round 'thing' on the right hand cambelt cover, the PTU is the 'thing' on the left hand cambelt cover with the fins on it.

I pulled the codes from my ECU it pulled codes 21 Ignition signal circuit and 34 Detonation Sensor circuit. What do I need to do to fix this problem. And where do I find these sensors? Thanks Phat

Damn, but I can't work out how to get there directly (brain fade) but go to the home page of this site, wave your cursor over the Z logo top left and go Tech Stuff > Useful Info > Online Manual.

or alternatively the codes are here:

One of my coils also exploded when I was tring to pull the codes. do youo know what this is from? thanks

Dett sensor is a huge job unfortunately!!! Problem is it is seated right in the bottom of the Vee so you're looking at removal of upper and lower intakes to get to it for replacement. Some people will tell you to bridge the sensor connector with a resistor - this IMO is not clever - the sensor is there for a reason - to put the engine into safety boost and retard the timing. In this country with the crappy fuel we get, dettonation is more likely so the sensor IS protecting your engine. If you want to know what dettonation does to an engine ask jvnewcombe on here (sorry john wink.gif).

Other error, ignition signal circuit, is either the Crank Angle Sensor, or the Power Transistor Unit aka CAS and PTU wink.gif Check the connectors on both of these, they are mounted on either side of the cambelt covers on the front of the engine. CAS is round on right, PTU is square with fins and is on the left (looking from the front of the car). My bet is the CAS connectors but check both, in fact check as many of the electrical connectors you can see for corrosion etc. Also check that some muppet hasn't filled them with copaslip grease like they had on mine....

Please do be carefull with the dett sensor - Nissan fitted this for a reason and I'm sure you don't want to see the internal parts of your engine flying out of the bonnet wink.gif

PS Where abouts are you???? Not exactly just roughly wink.gif
